Halo 5 Wishlist: Multiplayer

Hey guys. I’ve been working on this wishlist for a few weeks now and I think I’ve reached the point where I can’t think of anything that has a realistic chance of making it into Halo 5. I’m posting this wishlist so that you guys can talk about what you want to see in Halo 5 and because we need to start this early so that 343 can implement some of our suggestions before it’s too late in the dev cycle. So please support this thread to help make Halo 5 the best Halo game it can be. Here we go:

Uses Halo 4’s multiplayer as a base
Competitive Skill Rank: There should be a visible 1-50 Competitive Skill Rank. Ranking up speed should be between H2 and H3
In-Game Reporting system: This will allow us to report cheaters, de-rankers, etc. We shouldn’t have to suffer because of a few people so this feature along with you guys having a team of people dedicated to monitoring the online experience would keep the online clean.
Dedicated Servers: This will remove the lag and make the online experience more enjoyable. If they’re too expansive (which I doubt considering the money Halo makes MS) then at least have them for Ranked matches.
Maps: Return to the more simple style of maps seen in Halo 1/2/3 (Lockout, Valhalla, Guardian, etc.). More symmetrical maps and more Arena style maps (Monolith, The Pit, Asylum, etc.). The game should launch with 12 Maps with 6 small and 6 medium/big. There should be an exact remake of Blood Gulch and two popular small maps that haven’t been remade (I’d like to see The Pit and Asylum or Simplex). Small maps should be worked on with SaLoT because the maps he made in Halo 4 are balanced, competitive and much better than 343’s maps (Simplex is the best map in the game).
Pro Players support: Multiplayer should be worked on with competitive players like Ninja, Ghostayame, Walshy, etc. like Treyarch did with CoD. This will help make the MP more balanced.
Map Callouts: There should be Official map callouts under the Motion Sensor. This will make calling out enemy positions easier for new players and will allow players to have universal callouts that the entire player base knows. Callouts should be worked on by Pro Halo players.
Static Spawns: This will help bring back map control.
Instant RespawnNo instant respawn except in modes like Griffball and Action Sack.
Red X:Actual Red X like previous games that stays where the player died and stays longer than in H4.
Weapon De-Scope: This is a staple of Halo and everyone agrees that Flinch sucks. Oh and to David Ellis: Being shot by a Sniper while scoped-in is more jarring and disorienting than being shot out of scope.
Weapon De-SpawnWeapon De-Spawn times should be similar to previous games.
Ordnance DropsNo Random Ordnance Drops and Personal Ordnance Drops. They should be set on Resupply Timers like in Team Throwdown
Killcams: Killcams fixed. They should track things like Rockets, Sticky Detonators, Grenades, etc. Final Killcam goes in slow-motion like in CoD. Killcams disabled for Ranked except for Round/Game ending.
More Custom Game Options: Option to customize traits for each weapon individually in Customs/Forge
LoadoutsNo Boltshot or Plasma Pistol. They should be placed on maps as Ordnance Drops, like in previous games. No Plasma and Pulse Grenades in Loadouts
Weapon Skins: There should be lots of Weapon Skins like CoD and GoW
No Armor Mods: These were used to change some elements that would be default in previous Halo games (Auto Grenade pick up replaced with Resupply, Grenades suck unless you use Explosives, etc.)
Armor Design: Mix between the H4 armor design and the H1/2/3 armor design.
Armor Effects: Armor Effects from Reach and also new ones.
Vehicle Spawning: Instead of having Vehicles already spawned on the maps, they should materialize at certain spots, like in Dominion. This is to fit my following suggestion.
Vehicle customization: We should be able to put different skins on our vehicles.
Emblem editorEmblem editor that is at least as advanced as the one seen in Black Ops 2.
AssassinationsOption to toggle Assassinations
Search OptionsAbility to search for players with Good Connections only and/or who use mics, like in Reach. No Skill option since there’s a Ranked playlist.
Psych Profile: The Psych Profile from Halo Reach should return.
Join in Progress: Join in Progress should return but in Social only.
GroupsGroups similar to crews in Max Payne 3. We should be able to customize the group’s emblem (and have it on your char), organize Group battles and have rival groups.
BotZone: BotZone like in KZ3 where we could train against bots and practice different maps. We should be able to bring our parties in BotZone. BotZone should be available offline.
Beta test: I don’t want to pay $60 to be a Beta Tester. This will help reduce launch problems.
Spectator Mode: Spectator mode similar to the CoDCasting mode in Black Ops 2.
Micro-transactions: The game should have Micro-transactions for armor, skins, emblems, etc. This would allow 343 to make money post-launch which would allow them to maintain the Dedicated Servers and make Map packs free which would remove the population split.
Halo TV: Should work like Uncharted TV in Uncharted 3. I think that there should be an official Top 5/10 series made by 343. There should be an option in the Theater to submit a clip directly to 343 for a chance to be featured in the Top 5/10. Also, the vids shouldn’t only be about Kills. Every week, there should be a different theme like Top Kills, Top Fails, Top Snipes, etc. Players featured in the vids should win prizes or something. It should have Machimina, Live-streams and other community content. Also, there should be a “This week in Halo” thing were every Monday, when someone starts playing the game for the first time in the week, instead of having a short text, there should be a video where someone from 343 (hopefully Bravo) talks about new things happening that week like playlist changes, TUs, Spartan Ops, Tournaments (read on), new maps, etc.
GametypesReturn of Assault, Race, Juggernaut, etc. New game modes, both social and competitive. Flood (for MM and Customs) and Infection (Customs).
CTF:In Capture the Flag, there shouldn’t be an auto flag pickup. We should have to hold X like in previous games. However, don’t let us drop the flag, that’s a welcome addition to H4. Flag should need to be at base to score. Also, there should be One Flag and Neutral Flag.
Competitive Gaming: 343 needs to support competitive gaming a lot more with Halo 5. As suggested above, the default settings should be more balanced and there should be a Spectator Mode. They should also give their official support to Arena Gaming League, in exchange for them using the Throwdown settings (Throwdown could even become AGL) so that the Halo competitive scene can grow to its H3 level, AGL could grow to become as big (maybe bigger) as MLG.
Leaderboards: Leaderboards for the Ranked Playlists.
Weapon Lowering: Ability to lower the weapon online. It should stay lowered when moving and crouching, like in previous games.

Thanks for reading. Please tell me what you think and don’t forget to post your own ideas.

I can agree with pretty much all of that.

halo 5 should be halo 2 with sprint and better graphics

This belongs in General Discussion, not in the Halo 4 forum.

I think my suggestions put H5 between H2 and H4, which is definitely a great place to be at.

got that right.

It was a fairly ok list but bring back unsc/brute vehicles and the brutes, get rid of armor abilities on spawn, ordance drops need to be completly removed ‘Forever’, make dmr’s, sniper rifles completly useless against vehicles, get rid of dmr, bring back the proper br and not that h4 copy, paste job that looks, feels more like a stupid dmr.

Also they need to dumb down the graphics a bit if on 360, try focusing on making better forge editing options (halo 4 graphics aren’t the most important thing in a game since gameplay should always come first)

Good, except for microtransactions, keep those far, far away from Halo.

-I think Brutes are dead.
-They’ll never get rid of AAs, they pretty much make Halo now. Otherwise I would’ve suggested their removal.
-Read the main thread. There’s no DMR.
-BR in H4 looks cool IMO, although I’d prefer a black one.
-H5 is gonna be on the next Xbox. Read the Forge thread, you’ll like what I posted.

While I don’t like the way some games handle Micro-transactions, I think they could work well in H5. Like I said, they should only affect Cosmetic things like armor, skins, etc. They’d also allow 343 to maintain the Dedicated servers (which means no lag) and give us free DLC (which means no more population split).

I would ask for a TL; DR, however, a quick skim through tells me we are mostly on the same page, I can tell a lot of effort went into this, well done!

I just wish they didn’t make it, and mothballed the game for a different developer to make it in a few years time.

I honestly, honestly, honestly think the currently employees of 343 can’t do it right. They simply cannot even see where they’ve gone wrong with this one for existing fans and long-standing players, so what makes you think they’ll even get the next one marginally right for Halo fans?

I’m not trying to be derogatory, or fan-boyish, or raging; it’s what I see with crystal clear eyes and damn facts. Halo 4 was crap, you can’t really debate that. Some people like it, most hate it, but it was crap and a complete betrayal to Halo fans. Over the past few months 343 have not only completely failed to recognise the flaws in their design, their vision, of the game, but they are deliberately tried to tare it away from the people who loved halo before, to try and gain the attention of people who have never played Halo before and who wouldn’t maintain much attention to it anyway. They are an incompetent, rude, ignorant, arrogant, backstabbing, 2-faced company. That’s how I feel about them, that’s what they are. That what I see, and I’m not even the only one.

Don’t try and assume why I see them like that, ask what they did to make me see them like that. Wind back the clocks and look at everything they did, and you’ll see them for who they are too. They did as they said they would, made a game for people who haven’t played Halo before (IE the people who didn’t have an interest in playing Halo before) so they’re a good company in that respect, but to anyone and everyone who bought into the Halo series prior, they’ve -Yoinked!- over the lot of us. In doing so they’ve also sabotaged their trust, and fan and player retention. I couldn’t count on both hand twice over how many people liked Halo 1-Reach. Now I couldn’t count on 1 hand how many people like it now.

You can, since its your personal opinion, meanwhile alot of people think it’s fact that it’s a solid game. You can’t really bring up your personal opinion about the game and call it fact.
