Halo 5 Weapons and Analysis + Opinions

Just a little self-containing thread about the topic. At this point I can say most of us have used the majority of the weapons in Halo 5. This topic will be for giving our brief ‘analysis’ based on our experiences with them so far (effectiveness, pros and cons, etc.) I will start with mine:

AR: Still very, very strong. I don’t find it particularly overpowered against the BR, but facing it head-on with the Pistol is a death sentence.
SMG: Where it needs to be, I feel. It’s horribly inaccurate past 10ft and good at shredding people in cramped hallways/bunkers.
Pistol: I was so excited to use this thing, and for what it’s worth, it is very useful at mid-long when you have nothing else, but it has VERY unsatisfactory stopping power overall if you miss a single shot, which is almost guaranteed to happen.
BR: Hitscan AND low aim assist? Can it be… a skillful BR? Impossible…
DMR: It’s fantastic, actually. The range advantage is much more apparent.
SAW: It’s better than every non-power weapon at close-mid, but you’re guaranteed to take too much damage using it. Halo 5’s large sightlines only exacerbate it’s biggest flaw.
Hydra: VERY underwhelming if you don’t Smartscope.
Shotgun: Totally bonkers 1sk range and I’m not complaining.
Sniper Rifle: Same as Halo 4.
Rocket Launcher: Good as always, but a tad slow.

Storm Rifle: It’s the SMG.
Plasma Pistol: At range, it’s actually a lot like the regular Pistol now. You are honestly missing out if you never pick this up.
Needler: I believe it’s the same as Halo 4. I’ve only used it in Campaign.
Carbine: In terms of killing power, it’s back to it’s Halo 2 days. Thank god. Minus the small clip it gives the BR serious competition.
Energy Sword: I love it. The slight speed increase is very welcome. Otherwise it has a lot of the same problems that the SAW does.
Fuel Rod Cannon: It’s… not good anymore. The range and speed are subpar and that can only mean it wasn’t adjusted for killing a competent target. Even if you’re cross-mapping heavy vehicles with it for damage, it just falls short (pun intended) or doesn’t make it in time.
Beam Rifle: The recoil is stupid in my opinion but aside from that it’s just like always.

Boltshot: Still not sure if it has a headshot multiplier or not… It’s a lot like the BR otherwise, just with homing bullets and no hitscan.
Suppressor: In a world where the Plasma Rifle never misses…
LightRifle: Every bit as awesome as it was in the beta, from what I can see. I hope it never changes.
Scattershot: Your experience may differ, but for me it has been very underwhelming in the damage department compared to the Shotgun.
Binary Rifle: I have not used it yet. Hopefully it’s still good!

How did they work for you?

Pretty good assessment. Weapons are actually really well balanced - in my opinion anyway.
