Those look pretty cool,I like the brute and forerunner weapons.
The issue with your suggestions is that, in most cases, you’re just suggesting yet another clone of weapons that are already there. Do we really need both the Plasma Repeater, Storm Rifle and Brute Plasma Rifle/Spiker AR in the game? Alongside the Assault Rifle, SMG, Suppressor, Spiker and new Forerunner AR that you’re suggesting, that would make 8 automatic weapons to choose from, which is a tad… Excessive, no? Same goes for the precision weapons.
Or another Forerunner Rocket Launcher? We have the Incineration Cannon for the Foreunner heavy weapon slot, having yet another Rocket Launcher/Fuel Rod Gun clone is rather unneeded. Same goes for needing a Foreunner and Covenant counterpart to the SAW.
Halo’s sandbox has always been interesting since every weapon has been unique, interesting and different to use. The Grenade Launcher from Reach is a perfect example of a great, unique weapon. There’s nothing else in the sandbox that really resembles it, even its counterpart, the Concussion Rifle, is vastly different. Halo should always remain like that rather than spit out a bunch of weapon clones at us for the sake of having new weapons.
That’s why I believe that Halo 5 shouldn’t try to expand the sandbox, rather than refine it, kind of like what Reach did. Give us some new, interesting weapons, but don’t hesitate to cut some out if they just feel like a rehash of other weapons, like the Scattershot or DMR.
> What we need is a smaller, more unique sandbox. Not one filled to the brim with pointless weapons. Let’s start consolidating.
>
> First, we need to decide on the BR vs DMR debate. I personally prefer the DMR, but the BR is probably the better choice. Why? Because the Carbine and Needle Rifle already fill the role of a single-shot weapon, and can be tweaked to be more accurate.
>
> Second, SMG’s or Assault Rifles? I’d personally go with Assault Rifles. Instead of bloom, have them fire slower the longer you fire. It prevents spam but doesn’t ruin them at long range.
>
> Third, way too many power weapons function the same way or share the same purpose as others. Let’s remove or change these. I’m going to attempt to give every faction five to seven weapons.
>
> Fourth, in order to prevent avoidable redundancies, Forerunner weapons should be power weapons or semi-power weapons only.
>
> We now have our loadout primaries
> Battle Rifle
> Needle Rifle or Carbine
> Assault Rifle (Meat)
> Storm Rifle (Shields)
>
> Let’s address the UNSC/Covenant Power Weapons.
> Sniper
> Shotgun
> Rocket Launcher
> Spartan Laser
> Grenade Launcher
> Focus Rifle
> Plasma Pistol
> Concussion Rifle
> Needler
> Energy Sword and Gravity Hammer
> Fuel Rod Mortar*
> *The Fuel Rod Cannon from Halo CE had very fast, arcing projectiles. It could be used from across the map by a skilled player.
>
> Finally, the Forerunner Sandbox
> Lightrifle - Slightly better than BR/Carbine.
> Scattershot - Tighter spread, longer range, 2sk.
> Boltshot - Same as current.
> Vanquish LMG - Stun Effect, high damage.
> Force Rifle - 3sk, pushes enemies and vehicles. Slowish firing rate.
> Another weapon, no ideas at the moment.
I believe people should have a variety of weapons to choose from. Some people don’t want to use AR’s maybe they want to use SMG’s. The Incineration Cannon doesn’t feel like a Rocket Launcher type of weapon, to me. It kills a mantis in one shot while the rocket launcher and fuel rod take multiple shots to kill it, correct me if I’m wrong. The incineration cannon feels like a Special type weapon. I agree/believe that the weapons should be REFINED, improved with changes, in their own unique ways. More weapons/Power weapons means new strategies and that can change the battlefield/outcome.
