Halo 5 was originally going with the credit system

Before you either take my word as Gospel or assume that I’m BSing through my teeth, take a look at this. It’s a list of some concept art I’ve never seen before (well, most of it anyway) that I found on Reddit. There’s a picture labeled “REQ packs concept” where it looks like you could buy them with credits, and these look way more visually stimulating than what we have now. It’s all speculative, of course.

Oh yeah, there’s some gun concepts, too.

WHOA WHOA WHOA I can’t be the only one who saw that first pic, the scope showed what weapon your enemy is using… This would have been awesome in game!! SEE NOW THATS INNOVATING HALO’s GAMEPLAY!! NOT CHANGING THE FORMULA BUT EXPANDING UPON IT FOR THE BETTER…!!!

It is sad because I think those concept shots look better than what we ended up with.

Every time I see these concepts I cry a little inside, they look so much better than the current version we got.

Hmmm… not sire what to say. Some look better but some look worse.

That’d actually be really cool. I also feel that the BR scope could work for the game.

Yes, but even assuming this is real it would be buying random items so what is the difference if they call it credits or Req point?

These concepts look so more modern and sophisticated! -Yoink!- 343i WHAT HAPPENED.

It wasn’t really a whole different system, just a different name for req points.

Wow, that whole thing looks awesome. I wish they would’ve stuck with that.

Other than having a million more packs (what does it all amount to anyway?), and changing the name from “REQ Points” to “Credits”, there’s nothing different about this system. It doesn’t even solve people’s major complaint, that people have to unlock them randomly.

But some people are easily entertained by having something appearing to be different, I guess.

Interesting…

Also, I’d like to point out that the colorful UI would’ve been fantastic for the game. The dull grey theme just doesn’t do it for me.

There are microsoft points. Must have been an early concept.

There’s a chance that there weren’t going to be any micro-transactions.

It’s just fun to look at these and discuss them. Nothing wrong with that.

Why are people finding about this now? These shots have been out for months

Oh that’s not what I was talking about. It’s when people take one look and it’s already the best thing ever, and 343i are incompetent for essentially just changing the name.

Look next to the credits.

If we got those concepts and then we saw what we had now we would what we have now. Psychology

Yeah, but we don’t know what that is. It could be real-life currency or something else entirely. Other games have had more than one way to buy items in-game before.
