So the Monster promotion gave away Halo 5 for free for a small period of time, what makes me angry is through all the Halo emails i get i did not receive one message about it so i missed my chance to get it, yes i mad about it because my original copy of Halo 5 was stolen.
Now this also brings up the question of why there is so many promotions for halo going on, for example my Walmart has so many toys with halo infinite codes that its unreal, before they where sold out i did manage to get a bunch myself and i don’t even know what they give yet or if they all give the same thing which worries me because i don’t even know if they will work next year.
Do you think these promotions are to much? My wallet does…
Promotions are nice to be honest. I didn’t know Halo 5 was free though, that slipped under the radar as free things tend to be very low key.

I think the promotions are fairly standard for a mainline Halo launch game, but may be just a little more so for Infinite because of the new platform.
For Halo 5 there were tie-ins with Mega Blocks (as usual), Hot Pockets, and I believe some type of energy drink - I feel like it was Monster back then as well. They also did things with Astro gaming headsets, some of the action figures, etc etc.
I do think it’s over the top. There’s only so much piddly merch I’m willing to buy, and so much garbage food I’m willing to buy. Slap a promotional code on a bottle of Starbucks cold brew, or throw a code on some green giant carrots? Word, I’m in. But I don’t necessarily need all the sugar filled and plastic merchandise they’re stuffing with codes.
Seeing Halo merchandise again is a sight for sore eyes. It feels like 2006/2007 again when Halo 3 merchandise was everywhere.
So the Halo 5 freebie is over with already? If that’s true it sucks since my buddy didn’t have the game yet, and that might have easily convinced him to pick it up. But ah well.
The number of promotions and ULC pack-ins was manageable at first, but quickly blew up. The Monster Energy promo was horribly designed and executed but I’m still gonna see that through. I’ve already put my health in danger by drinking so much of the crap.
The megablox ones were nice, but then I’ll probably never spend money to get the pelican and other $$ ones. I will never buy all the action figures. I won’t get the nerf gun or funko pop. I probably won’t get too into the Mondelez promos. And who knows if I’ll ever achieve max rank in halo 5 anytime soon lol.
The likely reason why so many promotions are happening right now is because Halo Infinite was supposed to release in the next month or two. We’d be in crunch time right now for hype generation and marketing if it weren’t for the delay into 2021.
I would assume many, if not all, of those contracts and deals were set long ago and still need to be honored. So the promos are running ahead full steam while the game is still being delayed. It makes for a weird combination of marketing and reality, but I guess this is where we’re at.
