Halo 5 was close to being perfect

(For me, obviously…)

I still like Halo 5 as an individual title but it seems like a very poor use of assets at times…

Nobody will use Slide long-term. Nobody. I don’t think we’ll be seeing largely practical uses for Ground Pound, either. Why not just scrap both of them and rid yourselves of two needlessly homogenizing mechanics before release? It’s not like they have much use in a Halo game anyway

Next we have Spartan chatter. Great addition. Absolutely loved it at first, but it was executed very… loosely? Their voices are painfully average despite their immense size, even by Halo standards (something as a voice actor is very important not to forget) and they couldn’t sound more cheesy saying ‘Spartan’ every other time they address each other… You are on the battlefield, yes? You address each other as ‘soldier’.

Then, just like every other Halo title, they give Elites animations for seemingly every action in the game, only to revoke their playable status yet again (adamantly refusing to give us confirmation months before E3…) Like, what part of that sounds fair? You confirmed no dual-wielding for Halo 5 at E3 LAST YEAR, why was giving us a clear answer that playable Elites are not happening so hard? Any answer would have eased my tension, but they just… didn’t care. It was confirmed that thruster technology had been integrated in Covenant armor as of late, and Elites already perform a couple of functionally identical abilities to Spartan Abilities, just with what little footage we have of them so far… Elite chatter in Halo 5. [Elite clamber in Halo 5.](http://Elite clamber in Halo 5.) That’s just harsh on two fronts…

The aforementioned things really leave a sour taste in my mouth, and sometimes I fail to understand just how little 343 relates to their own fanbase, but at the end of the day, Halo 5 does plenty of things correctly, and I will STILL buy the game. Yes, purists are real Halo fans just like bottom-feeding Halo drones are.

I love ground pound, but slide is just to look cool. It serves no advantage or purpose on the battlefield

Slide and Ground Pound may not not be very practical, but at least they’re fun. Plus, if you do manage to pull off something cool with either ability, it’s just more bragging rights for you.

Your complaint about the Spartan chatter seems pretty nitpicky. Who cares whether they say Spartan or soldier?

No playable Elites is a huge disappointment. I agree with you completely.

Lmao dude are you seriously serious right now?

> And they couldn’t sound more cheesy saying ‘Spartan’ every time they address each other… You are on the battlefield, yes? You address each other as ‘soldier’

SPARTAN-II’s are addressed by their first name and their service tag, in the case of Master Chief it’s John-117. Or Kelly-087, Douglas-042, Jerome-092 and so on.
SPARTAN-III’s are identified in a similar manner. Their first name, followed by their company and then their service tag. Like Carter-A259 and Emile-A239 signify that they’re a part of Alpha Company. Then Catherine-B320 for Beta Company and Holly-G003 for Gamma Company
SPARTAN-IV’s are identified by “Spartan” and then their name. Spartan Sarah Palmer, Spartan Gabriel Thorne, Spartan Edward Buck and so on. And sometimes just by their last name to shorten it, like how Locke is referred to sometimes as Spartan Locke.

Like the other person said, you’re just nitpicking now. This is how the Halo universe works in terms of Spartans and how they’re addressed and so forth

And just you like him, you ignored the entire first half of that point.

Yes I was nitpicking. No it wasn’t my only gripe that they say ‘Spartan’.

Didn’t think I needed to clarify that these are all my personal gripes…

I didn’t ignored I just chose to not include it because your whole thread is nitpicking. You hate slide and ground pound so much then don’t use it and stop complaining about it! Why didn’t you mention clamber there? I see no practical use for it. Just because it’s in the game and has no practical use doesn’t mean it should be taken out of the game. You don’t like it, yes, okay. That’s your opinion and we respect that. But you don’t speak for the rest of us, I for one will use it. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean you should say for it to be removed completely from the game. If you spoke for the whole community then yes, but you don’t. With your logic, half the armor abilities that no one uses should be removed from the game because they serve no “practical use”, which makes no sense. There are always the minority

Well, don’t ignore points when using my logic against me. That’s called straw manning. That’s bad.

So basically you don’t tolerate my opinion. That’s to be expected, really, but I wasn’t speaking for anyone but myself.

I’m not sure how it was implied at any point that I was speaking for anyone BUT myself, but… if you’re not going to represent my arguments correctly or just attack my opinions, there isn’t much constructive discussion to be had with you, I’m afraid (at least on this matter.)

M’kay. And I clearly said I didn’t ignore them, but okay. Whatever floats your boat

I thought I’d never use slide but after playing Destiny, you’ll use slide a lot more when a shotgun is in your hands. The shotgun slide is a very useful tool and a very powerful move if done correctly.

Halo 5 is far from perfect, it lacks content that previous games had but more importantly it can’t please everyone because you can’t market a game that plays like it’s from 2005. That’s why Halo has to evolve.

The most perfect game coming out is Fallout 4, and even that will have problems with glitches.

It’s the equivalent to dropping down to the floor when you have a rifle (games like Hardline and CoD where you’re able to go prone) but instead you have a shotgun and you can give the other player a closer look

Removing features makes for an easier franchise. Less features means less rev time and more releases for more money. Its all about convenience.

For this quote I have no intention of adding anything I just want to make it longer lol.

To be fair nobody else seems to be caring about elites either. There are no videos on YouTube talking about it and the only places where you will find information is the thread here on Waypoint and a dead thread on Reddit.

Slide might be somewhat useless, but after seeing it used in both the Fathom B-roll and the Warzone B-roll I think it could be of some use if you’re smart. Ground pound also. Just because an ability is based on certain situations doesn’t mean they’re useless. I mean, I’m not going to use vehicle boarding in a 4v4 game which is the main part of Halo so should they just take it out entirely?

Closes the gap and slides under their aim. A lot more than just the equivalent of going prone.

You know what I meant

The fact sprint is still here is what kills it for me, because everything in Halo 5 is pretty good from the looks of it.
