Honestly I love the new Warthog in Halo 5: Guardians. Its design just seems better than the Halo 4 design & it handles perfectly. I only have 3 complaints.
-
It could use a little more detailing like the Halo: Reach Warthog.
-
The M12 LRV Warthog should’ve had the classic hexagonal shield around the light machine gun. I like the 5 barrels though.
-
Forge should include the M831 Troop Transport Warthog & the Civilian Warthog.
Its pretty good. I just wish it didn’t have the max speed limited so low. Speed Halo won’t be as good as it was in Reach
I wish it wasn’t so bouncy.
Yeah the vehicles feel like you are driving a trampoline.
Also it is way too simple for the warthog gunner to get picked off now.
I feel like the gungoose is better than the warthogs… Like wtf. It is much harder to kill a gungoose driver than it is to kill a warthog gunner.
Being a gunner sucks really bad. It’s way to easy to kill the gunner now.
As a fan of the Warthog since Halo CE, I’m not happy with Halo 5 Warthog. It’s impossible to drive skillfully and the gunner is totally exposed. In previous versions the gunner had good front protection. As a driver this meant pulling a 180 and blindly driving backwards to keep your gunner alive (skillful driving). Now pulling a 180 makes no difference, except slowing you down and making yourself an even easier target, and I’m likely to get stuck or flip over. Only good option is to drive top speed (too slow), where the gunner can’t hit anything and will still die quickly. I miss Halo 4 Warthog!
I think they just need to fix the weight of vehicles. You can flip everything easily now
Also if they were to make a game (like Bungie did with Reach) where everything was old and worn down, I think that is where the detailing could come in. Imagine being able to add things like emblems to your warthogs and ghosts!

Though I’m not a fan of the speed or the handling of the HCE Warthog (Reach did it right! Fast, good handling, & good suspension.), I will gladly agree that that could take some heat & dish it right back. And that gunner position was well defended too. Wish this were the same throughout the entire series.

Dude! I am so with you on that. But lets not stop at just the scuffs, scratches, & chipped paint. If you look at this Halo: Reach Warthog, you’ll notice that its overall armor consists of multiple plates compared to the Halo 4 & 5 Warthogs which seem to be one big hunk of metal… Then of course we need to add the decals such as the black arrow shaped marking on it too.
I just wish the scout warthog could hold 2 spartans in the rear in borderlands 2 bandit technical style, that would be a very nice function along with the added carrying capacity
The gunner is really easy to kill compared to other Halo titles.

This. I’m not sure what the point of the Scout Warthogs are. Other than to over-populate the REQs. I do agree that the Halo 5 Warthogs do seem to lack the punch of previous versions driven by being too bouncy and poor gunner protection.
Kinda bouncy, as others are saying.
