Halo 5 Warlock Remake

Okay I know the title sounds crazy. Warlock ?! In Halo 5 ?! Well it’s currently being built by yours truly and I wanted to tackle the challenge of making a fairly small map from Halo 2 playable in Halo 5 with rescaling and a few tweaks.

First off let me say that 343 Nailed it with Forge. They could not have made it easier and more efficient than it is right now. I have spent 7 straight hours in it and came up with great results. I have been using Forge since it released with Halo 3 and this is the best iteration so far. The grouping and duplication combo makes life 1000x easier, the magnets work so much better now, and don’t even get me started on the number of objects and colors there are. I was overwhelmed to say the least.

So now lets talk Warlock. I remember some guy on the forums saying we wont see great maps like Warlock ever return due to Halo 5’s new mobility system. I took this opportunity to challenge myself as a cartographer to make Warlock playable in Halo 5. Scaling and tweaking jumps to compliment clamber are my goal. So here are a couple screen shots of my work in a total of 7 hours.

I was originally going to go for a forerunner vibe to the map and ended up with this in the first half hour; but then I took a look at all the Accent UNSC themed objects and my imagination went wild. So The map ended up looking a little like this after my 6 hours with forge. So the story with the map goes : (Not cannon) ONI Prometheus Station is a research facility that orbits Halo Installation 06. It is tasked with the research and reverse-engineering of Forerunner teleportation and anti-gravity technology.

Please keep in mind that this is a work in progress. Its is FAR from finished. I just wanted to let you guys and some fellow cartographers know what I did with my 1th day on forge. I’m super excited for where I’ll go with this new Forge in the future.

I’m looking to remake Pit. That map was fun to play competitively on. And seeing new movements are in H5 it might turn it into a faster paced map, seeing it can support that sort of speed.

Nice when can we play it? Excited to see more remakes. How about Gurdian from Halo 3.

Feast Your Eyes

It isn’t finished yet as you can tell by the gray coloring and lack of a ceiling, But its about 80% complete. I went a bit over the light mapping budget but haven’t noticed any significant performance issues. I cant wait to officially release it, so make sure you spread the word and tell people to add me so they can get a hold of my file share. Only thing on the list is.

When it comes to building a symmetrical map like this, a good tip is to build one half, or in Warmage’s case one fourth, then Group and Duplicate. It literally made this 75% faster.

Looks amazing, most forge maps I have seen play well but look horrible but yours looks like it will play well and looks it too. I would send it to some of the YouTube channels that feature forge maps when you are done since I think it’s good enough and deserves the attention.

Also make sure that you change the colour of one half to blue since it will make it so much easier to find your bearings.
