So I made a post around a week or so ago asking the question will MCC die out when Halo Infinite launches and most people leaned toward MCC because MCC will still have way more content than infinite at launch and with Halo Infinite not launching with coop and forge most people said that people with flock back to MCC since it has more replayablilty than infinite will at launch, but will something similar be the case with Halo 5 since even that game has more content than Infinite at launch?
I’m inclined to believe the same won’t be the case with H5. MCC is still getting regular content updates for six different games that are gems in themselves. H5 left a lot to be desired and many features still don’t work properly to this day. Not to suggest H5 is a bad game, but I believe MCC provides more reasons to keep coming back to it.

Agree with this. Also to add on, I think Infinite will be similar enough in gameplay to Halo 5 that most people will prefer going back to MCC for a fresh feel, in addition to having more games available in the collection anyway.
These are all valid points, and since I finished 152, I might even do the same thing… but one thing you guys are forgetting, and I’ve said this before in other threads, I think there will are enough people in H5 that need/want to finish things (152, comms, company things) that H5 will have a relatively decent population after Infinite launch. It will most definitely take a dip in population for sure. But especially with some of the issues Infinite has (lack of coop, no forge etc.), a lot of people with revert to MCC or 5, and I personally think there were be enough people left in 5 to find some matches so people can complete whatever they feel like completing…
My original theory was H5 would die a pretty immediate death at Infinite’s release. But after all the features being cut, even without any more updates I think H5 will maintain and maybe even get a few bursts of new players. Especially if it stays on gamepass. But the hardcore sweaty ranked players will probably stick around for the advanced movement. So it’ll still be sweaty, maybe even more so.
it will get a dip wont die immidieatly but will get a low player base

This most likely. Ranked will be abandoned though cuz the people playin that are the people gettin ready for Infinite.
I suspect we’ll see a return of the “<previous_halo_game> was way better then <current_halo_game>” phenomena that’s happen ever since Halo 2, so I could see H5 getting a minor population boost for a short while post-Infinite launch, but after that it will drop down again. H5 hasn’t had a particularly large player population for a while now, but I do believe it will retain a small playerbase even after Infinite.
No one will go back to Halo 5 lol. It has been pretty much abandoned.

You’re right dude, that will happen of that way.

Yeah, I mean, I can see many people who spend a lot of hours playing CGB on H5, for that reason I think that H5 keep a small player base like you’d say, like all this people who keep playing Halo Custom Edition on PC, Halo 2 on Project Cartographer, etc.

agree, needless to say, there will be people that won’t buy infinite until coop and forge is released, or cannot pay the game immediately, and wait for it as a holiday gift
Halo 5 will die or have way to minimal of a population to where it wont be all that fun to play once Infinite launches!

That’s totally going to be me… I have the game preordered (now I sounds like a broken record because I’ve said this before in other threads) for the series x… don’t have a pc, won’t play through the cloud and regardless of what people say (and think), I’m hesitant to try and play it on a gen1 Xbox 1… so that’s to the scalpers and Microsoft’s inability to get the Series X into the hands of most casual gamers (like myself)… Infinite will sit on the shelf… I’ll sleep just fine with that too…
