HALO 5 vs Halo 4

List all the reasons you think halo 5 is or isn’t better than halo 4
I think Halo 5 better, the req system is awesome, but don’t get me started on the campaign.

Halo 5
Better

What’s UI and I think the armor is awesome, at least better than halo 4

Halo 4’s Multiplayer almost wiped the name Halo off the map.

People found the Campaign disappointing at launch, the Multiplayer was horrid, the gameplay catered completely to casual play, Spartan Ops was repetitive, the DLC handling was painful, basic features (like the death indicators) weren’t put in until months after launch.

Of course this is the short version, I’d gladly go into detail if asked specific questions.

You know like the menu. Halo Reach had the best menu ever.
A lot of the armor they brought was pretty crappy, not all of it but like 60 percent of it.

Any other basic features that were bad?

It stands for User Interface and it’s pretty much all the menus.
Seeker looks like a friggin’ coffee machine.

I thought it was like all halo 4 armor plus new ones and the interface was awesome in reach

The only one I can think of off the top of my head were the X-markers (death indicators), that wasn’t added until like March. And then when it was first put in, it was small, white and disappeared quickly.

Also Content sharing was completely broken; you couldn’t search for files nor could you initiate a download from the website. The game had menus and UI for it, but none of it worked.

And they finally had the ability to deploy weapon tuning via embedding the weapon data inside gametypes, allowing them to rebalance guns without a title update. And then taking 2 more months to actually do a weapons update…

I was around for it, first of all. So it was just a matter of being there to witness it.

This thread explains generally what happened throughout Halo 4.

Halo 5’s MP definitely solved some problems that Halo 4’s had, but at the cost of losing core gamemodes until months later.
Halo 4’s campaign is better than Halo 5’s hands down.
Halo 5’s UI is broken. It’s very hard for me to not encounter a weird glitch. The infamous Retrieving Data bug annoys me as much as anyone else. One thing that really bothers me is how unorganized the armor and other items are. They aren’t separated alphabetically or by rarity, they are separated by the most recent AT THE BACK. This makes it very difficult to find an armor that I want to wear. Halo 4’s UI at least works.
Overall, Halo 4 is fundamentally a better game, but Halo 5 does have better gameplay.

Halo 5 beats halo 4 in forge, map amount, gameplay, warzone, gun balance, gun sounds, req variants, content post launch, soon to be a custom games browser, competitive aspect, and free DLC.

Halo 4 beats halo 5 in armor customization, story, UI, content at launch, Spartan Ops, social aspect, unlock system, and BTB.

Combine the two and you have a perfect halo game. I hope 343 sees the good of halo 5 and the good of halo 4 so they can add them together and make halo 6 amazing.

What I liked about Halo 4… husky raid was a bit better in it, the vehicles in btb are more useful especially the mantis, more game varieties dominion, heavies, ricochet etc… promeanthean vision was pretty cool… didn’t like the armor, the whack “ranking” system, way to many armor abilities, you could spawn with a plasma pistol…

H5 likes… has better weapon balance, splinter grenade can actually kill some one, warzone is fun, brought back a competitive ffa/arena… better ranking system… Dislikes… lack of game modes, only slayer, ctf, and strong holds… breakout and all it’s variants are lame, like h4 majority of armor is just crappy looking… to much just reskinned stuff (they really couldn’t give us a proper needle rifle just a reskinned carbine)… vehicles are weak in btb…lots of cqc maps…

I enjoyed the crap out of H4 campaign. I played only a handful of games on multi-player. Seriously, only like 70 maybe. Not because I didn’t like it. I honestly can’t even remember anything about it. I just had a lot of things going on at the time and just never really picked it up. Kind of ashamed of myself being such a Halo fan and all. lol

I like H5. I’ve spent 99% of my time in multi player. Full disclosure I haven’t even finished the campaign because when I’m on so are my partners so we just head straight to arena. I’ve read that the story wasn’t all that. I’m maybe half way through. I’m not overly impressed but I blame that on Locke. I don’t like him. I feel like he should have developed more as a character by this point (half way). One dimensional.

Halo 4

Good

campaign
development of cheif
didact
cortana goodbye

bad

multiplayer
DLC

Halo 5

Good

multiplayer
forge
warzone

bad

campaign
unlock system
useless reqs

Halo 4 campaign was better than Halo 5, but the multiplayer was just toxic, even a great campaign can’t make up for the bread and butter that is great multiplayer. Halo 5’s multiplayer is steering the game back towards where it should be and by the time we see Halo 6 the franchise should be back on course on both fronts.

I think most people who play Halo 5 haven’t even started the campaign.

Halo 5>Halo 4: Gameplay mechanics, Forge, Multiplayer
Halo 5<Halo 4: Story, UI, art, prometheans, inclusion of Spartan ops, more game modes, better customization.
