great question.
i followed destiny since more than a year before launch and the game bungie released was not the game they got us excited about. it really changed my thoughts about my once beloved bungie. as far as im concerned bungie died when joe and marty left. they were the heart and soul. that new company is nothing but pure corporate greed wearing bungies dead face as a mask. all destiny has going for it is very solid mechanics, but it lacks that heart and soul that we halo guys take for granted. this doesnt seem to be a huge problem for alot of playstation guys who never had that great halo expirience but it means everything for many of us here. destinys manditory dlc/unspoken quarterly subscription model divided the player base time and again. there is no lightning in a bottle for destiny.
halo 5 on the other hand looks very promising, i’ve seen 343i make no promeses that cant be kept. they obviously learned from the “mistakes” with halo 4. its got the balanced esports small scale serious arena gameplay that so many wanted but didnt get with h4. warzone looks amazing and may well steal a chunk of destinys pve only crowd when they find out that their participation can be a serious factor in winning games, we will want those guys on our team to get things done while we fight off the enemy spartans. many of those guys feel they have no place in pvp multiplayer, halo 5 is about to change all that. aiming down sights and modern controller options could serve as a gateway to steal chunks of gamers from across all modern shooters. this could really be a new start for halo in one hand while holding firmly onto its old school competitive roots with the other. the microtransactions, while not for some, will support serious eCompetition and 343i, which means future quality dlc for everyone, including those who just cant afford to keep throwing money at the screen thus preserving our community as a whole unit. halo 5 looks to up the ante on player/gear customization (in the warzone), a feature many now expect in a modern shooter. the req system will give players who like rewards a reason to keep coming back. my only problem is the lack of classic game types at launch, but i can overlook this if we dont have to wait too long.
call me optimistic, but barring any catostrophic unforseen incidents (like the mcc launch match making disaster), tomorrow may be my last moments with destiny and this new evil “bungie”, and the thought makes me smile
I haven’t been loyal from the begin because of my age but I’ve played every halo starting with halo 3 (have halo master chief collection so trying to catch up) but i love both games and to be honest you can see how similar mechanically the games are but from that they are not the same game not even the same genre in my opinion i love destiny i play it as i type this comment but i enjoy halo so much its because of halo i even thought about destiny. But to be honest i don’t care to compare to many games I just enjoy them Cod to Fire emblem( Japanese RPG) games are all have there own flavor and I’m just happy to get to taste them all
I would rather play halo because it has a well told lore to it. With destiny I felt the game wasn’t as good as it should be for the time it took to make it and that that if you don’t buy the dlc its half the game.
I love both games, but Halo has always had special place in my heart. So looks like Destiny will be collecting some dust until its next expansion. Halo is a much more polished product, and the story is amazing so I cant wait to jump in and play. I’ve never really liked the crucible experience in Destiny, just the co-op of raids and strikes, so seamless drop in drop out Halo campaign is going to be amazing.
I feel like this genre of gaming could be bigger and better if the developers listen to the consumer better.
Let me explain halo serious titan fall call of duty and many more first person shooters are big these days but also lose a lot of potential buyers like myself because
I with a passion cant stand first person view I like third person view I like games like 007 quantum of solace and gta v and things of that sort why because I do not like first person camera mode so in order for me to play halo destiny call of duty etc. there needs to be the option to switch the camera view and watch these titles attract many more buyers fyi. developers
I prefer Halo over Destiny any day of the week. I did play Destiny for a time, just because all my friends played it. It does not have the lasting value that Halo has. The fact that Forge is coming out, I am looking forward to many creative maps and modes. I think Forge alone will give Halo much more staying power. I have not had the desire to log back into Destiny in quite some time.
Halo. Better story (not much to compare to with Destiny), more balanced multiplayer, better map design. Destinyis fun, and the raids are awesome. But Halo is just a much more enjoyable and complete experience. Even after Taken King, Destiny still feels lackluster and incomplete.

Great post man, couldn’t agree more. That’s exactly my experience and my thoughts on the matter. See you on the battlefield Spartan.
I know this is a Halo forum but I have become sadly addicted to Destiny. I am very welcoming to Halo 5 and Fallout 4 to help take me away from Destiny for awhile.
People will obviously compare these games a lot but to me they are just so different. Destiny is much more of an MMO than a great campaign/competitive shooter.
The only thing similar is Warzone, and while I haven’t played it yet and it looks great, I have a feeling that Destiny will be watching closely and will have a very similar mode as it just screams destiny with big bosses and grunts all over the place.
Either way I’m looking forward to playing both series for years to come.
