Its time to face fact. The halo 5 updates are useless. These updates are just ways of delaying content that should have been in the game day 1 and also and in a bunch of unesscesscary new reqs in too. What about the stuff we want? Where’s KOTH, Oddball, Regicide, Race, VIP and Ricochet? Once the population a of game leaves they NEVER come back and a perfect example of this is the MCC, the game launched completely broken and when it was finally fixed the population was already dead. Halo 5s population dropped very quickly due to a lack of content and when these modes returned the population rose slightly and then went back to normal. A perfect way to show how anticlimactic the updates are lets look at the ‘Memories of Reach’ update. We wanted a Reach armour, Reach weapons/vehicles and Reach maps. We only got one of those things. What we got was the brute plasma rifle, Phaeton Helios and a Torque remix : Stasis, none of which were in Halo Reach. When we got big team battle it was just forge made maps and the worst variant of the mode ever. When we got Grifball it launched with only one map. When we got Infection it was a very decent variant but my only complaint was the lack of variants compared to reach as this was basically Alpha Zombies. When we got Firefigtht it was almost impossible to win matches and neaded a Hotfix too. It’s a pity to see halo 5 in this state.
Most of the update content.
Aside from the first update or two.
We’re started and completed after game launch.
Even halo reach, didn’t have ALL of its modes at launch.
I do agree we haven’t gotten all the armor, weapons and modes we asked for,at once or at all.
Months before release I saw people begging for halo 3 armor and weapons.
We have gotten halo ce pistol, h2br, reach armor and emblems, skipped right over halo 3.
I’d do anything for classic cqb armor.
yea most of these updates should have been available at launch

Shaking my head…
Modes @ launch maybe, alot of the updates included things that would have taken months to finish for any team.
Ui updates, forge items and updates, physics and aiming improvement, making /testing maps, fixing game exploits, lighting and bug fixes.

Halo: Reach – Launch Day Playlists | Trial and Error . Still more than what halo 5 had at launch. Although we did get some classic weapons I’m still saying that we are 10 months post launch and only now are we getting a file browser.
When i see people saying these updates should be there at launch… I always shake my head… those people need to know what time is, and how long it takes to develop games like halo or any triple A game…
If they hate waiting 1 month for an update… they would hate team fortress 2 where its pretty much a year for a small update…
The “These updates should have been there at launch” arguments always split me.
On one hand I understand that perhaps people feel cheated that they spent £40/$60 on a game and didn’t get the complete package on launch. And if we then had to pay for the updates I would just leave, wouldn’t even bother with it.
But would it have been better if they had delayed Halo 5 by a year ? Sure the game would have launched with a sizable amount of content but imagine the -Yoink- 343 would have received for delaying it. It would have been catastrophic with rabid fan boys being whipped up into a frenzy by loudmouth youtubers into sending death threats or some -Yoink- like that.
It also kept giving me an excuse to return to Halo 5 every month. As soon as I started to tire from the game and moved on to something else, 343 would drop a update and once again id get dragged into Halo 5 to try the shiny new toys.

To make infection a game mode which involves two people with energy swords and against shotgun and assault rifle spawns and when someone is killed they spawn with swords, should not take 7 months to make. Halo 5 was announced at e3 2011 so it had a lot of development time and a huge budget too.

I would rather a delayed but good and complete halo 6 rather than a rushed and incomplete halo 6. If halo 6 wouldn’t be released until say 5 years from now but it would be the best halo game ever then it would be worth the wait. Although you would be a die hard halo fan and will always be there for halo 5 either at its best or worst (like a football fan) a casual gamer would leave, sell the game and NEVER return.

It be ok if -Yoinking!- MS wouldn’t announce the release date so early. As soon as a publisher puts a date to something the entire internet takes that as a promise written in stone.
Let the developer finish the game first, then start sprouting your marketing -Yoink-.

Uncharted 4 was delayed countless times and look how polished the finished game was. It sold the most copies in the series and was very acclaimed by both critics and fans.

The resources required for a file browser aren’t easy.
Especially if a game wasn’t designed for one.
Halo reach, although it has one, had to place limits on its functionality.
I predict that halo 5’s file share will have issues while searching.

Well not if its the only thing being worked on, but Halo 5s DLC has included 15 maps, a tonne of forge updates as well as other game modes.
Halo 5 was announced at E3 2013. 2011 was before the release of Halo 4.

Name for me the Halo game that shipped with over 20 maps and I will agree that all the content from the updates “should have been in at launch”.

yes but these maps included breakout maps, forge maps and remixes and more.

None of them, but then again niether did Halo 5, there are maybe a total of 3 maps in the ENTIRE game that aren’t reskins, or remakes of previous maps.
