Halo 5 to launch with TV series(speculation)

Intro

First of all, not in anyway is this confirmed news of this happening. This is merely an idea of mine, purely and 100% only speculation.

I’ve been reading the forums and like me and a lot of other people, I don’t believe Halo 5 will be releasing in 2014 and neither the t.v series for that matter. For reasons I will explain below.

The Halo T.V series:

  • No cast news, plot news, trailer, writer details and production details. Has filming even started?

  • I do not see the t.v series releasing until at least early 2015, maybe midway 2015. If Microsoft want to make the t.v series as huge as Game of Thrones, they’re going to have to take their time. Be thorough.

  • Halo: Forward Unto Dawn was released pretty much the weeks leading up to halo 4. So if logic serves me right halo t.v series might as well too with halo 5.

  • If I were a Microsoft marketing manager (i’m not) i’d release the halo t.v series directed by Stephen Spielberg or Neil Blomkamp before halo 5 and watch the sales of the game increase exponentially. Hence the reasoning of my logic.

Current development of Halo 5:

  • Halo 4 finished in nov 2012. People state that halo 5 began early production midway through the development of halo 4 with little to no evidence so I’m going to assume 343 didn’t begin full scale production/focus until at least early/midway through 2013. Reasons being the many mistakes they made with halo 4 and the huge review process, the expectation they put on themselves/community, the game is being built on new hardware, multiplayer needing to be revamped, the story needing to be thoroughly progressed forward. 343 have their work cut out for them. For people to believe that the game will come out in 2014 have to assess the situation better and think from a developers point of view.

  • There is a reason 343 have gone quite. Its because they are working their butts off and they probably aren’t as far in development as people may think. Personally i’m glad they are not showing us anything. I’m prepared to wait.

  • For halo 5 to be a triple A title it will need at least 2 1/2 years development time (with halo 5 releasing in nov 2015). don’t give me the same old saying. “increased development time does not mean the game will be necessarily be better,” yes you are partially correct but increased development time will increase the PROBABILITY the game will be better. For reasons such as: Bug fixing, graphic details, physics, plot strength etc. Look at GTA V. 5 years in dev time and its a masterpiece. COD has been milked to a ridiculous extent. Their reputation going down the drain as a result. I can elaborate further but my point is made.

In conclusion:
I will be very surprised if we get a solid glimpse of halo 5 at E3 2014 along with the halo t.v series. Maybe another animated trailer or only a very small snippet of in game stuff. I’m expecting a game like halo 3:ODST or yes, Halo 2 anniversary to come out in 2014 and hence be the main focus of the show.

We haven’t heard anything about the t.v series and halo 5 so assuming the two will come together we will have to wait until at least 2015 sometime.

Cheers

(sometimes I wonder if 343 employees read this stuff and laugh at our ridiculous speculations)

Your reasoning seems very rational and I agree with all of your statements. A multi-million dollar TV series that is based on Microsoft’s most financially successful IP needs a very long amount of time and the right talent in order to pull-off. Releasing a season 1 in the months/weeks leading up to Halo 5’s release would only serve to capture the attention of long-time fans like us and to help generate a new generation of fans who may have never played a Halo game before.

They better have a damn good musician too. Aside from the actual story, thats the one single thing i am looking forward to the most. The music!

Makes sense. We will know soon enough.

100% agree. I miss Marty O’donnel and Michael Salvatori. Neil Davidge’s music is not in any way bad, its actually quite good, but it doesn’t create that halo feeling.

If I we’re employed at mircrosoft CEO I’d offer twice maybe thrice the money bungie/activision are paying marty and michael at this current time.

Makes sense to me. Don’t most tv series start up at around September time?

~ Duck.

I’m not much of a Call of Duty plan, but they make games in 2 years and while people like to say their reputation is going down the drain they are making billions of dollars every year with each Call of Duty maintaining more players than even Halo 3 had during its lifetime.

I agree with this as well.
As for the OP’s last remark…
Yeah I agree with you…or they will think that you know someone from…

haha, yeah, you wouldn’t want to over pay people just to string a few notes together, but i get what you mean, MS need to be more persistent.
