Firstly, I do not hate this game, I play it frequently.
Secondly, this thread is not to bash the game, or to bash 343, it is just to discuss the lies were we fed leading up to the release of halo 5.
Now before I get into my biggest problem with the lead up, here is an article that was mentioned in another thread, read it before you comment or make any assumptions.

EDIT: This article also has some very good points on creating a better story, and how it could have been handled better for character growth.
ED IT 2: I did not think this would be a problem, but please read the whole post and the article before you make a comment, as you can see when you scroll, the first page got bloated by someone who did not read. I want this to be a thread with proper discussion, not assumption or blind allegiance to what 343 says. Yes sounds harsh, but you will see what I mean when you scroll down, I just don’t want the whole thread to be bloated like it’s starting to already- it’s not good for you to scroll through, or for me to have to explain to some to actually read the post, to avoid bloating and misunderstandings.
EDIT 3: OK, this is getting out of hand. It seems some people don’t even know what “original post/OP” means. When I say to read the original post, it means this big block of text here. Now many of you will be reading this thinking “what the f…” but if you read the below posts, you will see what I mean. Again, I did not expect to encounter such…ignorance…but once again read this whole post, and the article, so if you make a post, you know what I am talking about, and won’t post nonsense, like you will see when you read through the first and second page.
And for those who do read, I appreciate it. It makes it better for everyone if you read it all, and make a genuine contribution to the discussion.
Edit 4: Apologies for another edit note, this is to those who won’t read or pay attention, and therefore bloat the thread. Such posts are considered non constructive posts (again, you will see them when you scroll down, posts that don’t contribute any real discussion, just misunderstanding due to not reading the OP). Such posts can have actions taken against them by monitors, I did not think I would have to explain it, but once again, I don’t want this thread to be bloated. So yes, this is a bit of a warning to those who make such posts.
Now there are many things I could discuss, but these are very well explained in the article, so I don’t think it is worth writing, especially when you can read it in a place when it’s worded and structured well.
Now, my main problem, is with the trailers. Now before anyone says they were ONI propaganda, yes I know that, but I’m talking about the “hunt the truth” aspect. Now many of us saw every hunt the truth episode, this got us all excited to see how this would affect halo 5s story yes? Well not a word of
Hunt the truth was in halo 5. Sure chief went “AWOL” (which was more a lack of communication, as when he sees Locke the second time, they become best buds right?). There was none of that ONI are the bad masterminds that was shown in hunt the truth. And on top of that, 343 claimed it would be the darkest halo yet, anyone remember that? If I can find the video/article, I would link it but I have not managed to find it.
So instead of the potentially amazing hunt the truth story, instead we got SPOILERS ahead for those who haven’t finished the campaign
another lame Cortana and chief love story (better than twilight?Right?..) instead of developing chief from halo 4,which I think laid a great foundation for the trilogy, it was thrown away, and instead he chases her around the Galaxy. I wish they continued the hunt the truth story, and had us witness the turmoil of the rebels/terrorists while the colonies get destroyed by the guardians. Cortana should have stayed dead.
Now that’s my point, now there are far bigger issues in this game, all of which have had many threads. I thought to pick up on a different point, and would like to see everyone else’s opinions. Once again, before you proceed to defend 343s actions, please read the whole article if you haven’t already, you will see many points of other lies leading up to release. Now you may be wondering, why make a thread on this? That is a valid question, I created this firstly as a means of discussion, as I know others feel the same, and that such actions should not be ignored, especially in Xbox’s “console seller”. And finally, I have grown up with this game for over 14 years now, I hate seeing it being treated like this, cutting content is one thing (ahem destiny) but outright lying about one of the selling points of the game, and creating hype around something not in the game (hunt the truth, as mentioned above). So before this goes to much into a rant, I’ll end it here. Apologies if this may be badly structured or worded, -hence why I linked an article- I don’t usually create such long threads.
