I’m going to keep this short.
343 is obviously putting in an effort to please everyone
On one side you have the “hardcore” halo fans who let’s be real here just want Halo 2/3 with better graphics and maybe a new gun/vehicle/map
On the other side the halo fans who don’t mind change and the people new to the halo series
I was surprised with how well 343 was able to bring back that old halo 2 feel but also cater in a next gen feel as well. Yes mobility now is important and adds more skill to game other than being able to aim a shoot. But 343 is able to balance this with you ability to not heal while running or only being able to boost for very short periods of time.
343 is in a -Yoink!- if you do situation and I am just greatful that they are listening to the fan base and releasing a beta well before release.
I wouldn’t call it a happy middleground. More-so split and aggravated.
There are a lot of things that one side of the community doesn’t like in Halo 5, while the other side probably joined the Halo party late (in the crossover from Halo Reach to Halo 4, perhaps) and would like to continue pushing it in the direction that they think Halo should go in.
LOL Anyone who says halo 5’s multiplayer feels like Halo 2 has obviously never played halo 2 in their life. Litrally the only things it has in common is the Battle Rifle and Master Chief.
And your bias shows SO MUCH so for you to claim 343 is “meeting in the middle” is dumb. You obviously like the new COD er I mean Halo so of course you are going to try to find ways to justify 343s decisions by saying they are pleasing both sides when we all know they are only pleasing one side and that is the minority side of fans who are new , dumb, and scrubby and like kills handed to them on a silver platter via the power weapons that are announced to them and higlighted by a neon green sign for all to see.

I just SMH any time someone suggests Halo needs to go in a new direction or that this new direction is a good thing. It’s like they look at halo 4 population numbers, plug their ears and yell LALALALALALALALA I CANT HEAR YOU.
Juts like 5-6 years ago Halo 3 was near the top of XBL charts actually competiting with Call of Duty. That was with the true halo formula. fast forward and Halo 4 probably isn’t even in the top 20 with this new failed formula that is never going to work yet these people ignore that

You come off as so angry and non-logical. Why would they target a minority when their ultimate goal is to sell copies. Do you think the “core” halo fans who live in the past are so numerous? News flash Halo 4 was the best selling halo game to date. At least they are working hard to listen to their core fans while keeping the game current. But also keeping Halo’s core elements in tact.

Funny how the guy who claims Halo 5 plays like Halo 2 calls ME “Non logical”.
-They are targetting Call of Duty fans which are a vast majority but they obviously are too dumb to realize Call of Duty players typically hate Halo and no matter how close 343 tries to make halo resemble COD these fans will never jump ship.
-Halo 4 has the worst Halo population to date after 2 years. They are down below 10k. Sometimes it dips to as few as 3k playing halo 4. Halo 3 had hundreds of thousands playing for a long time and Halo 2s population was gigantic as well.
-They are not listening to their core fans AT ALL WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU LMFAO??. Their core fans are the ones who have been here from the beggining they are the ones asking for no sprint, AAs, etc.
You are something else for real. It’s like Frankie told one of his interns to come on here and blather some nonsensical BS

No this is where you are decived. Halo 4 was a huge success in initial sales because we were promised a Halo game true to its roots also. The hype for master chiefs next instalment was insane. As soon as we realised it wasn’t what we bargened for the online population dramatically dropped. And as for Halo 5 they are just keeping a few of the original features in to “satisfy” older players. Like oh look you get descoped now like the old times buy our game. But at the core the game is completely different. “Purist” Halo fans are being blatantly devices once again so that they can please a wider audience of younger players.
Initially Halo 5 will sell well but online population will immediately drop as the younger players get hyped for the next titanfall or destiny. But 343 will not care because they made their money and have already started on halo 6.
They will cailm it returns to roots but by that stage many people will have given up and moved on. Microsoft will figure out how pointless the halo franchise is for sales and end the partership.
By pleasing everybody you please nobody. The people who want a “modernised” generic halo are not satisfied because simpler Titanfall and CoD are better at being fast paced twitch shooters so they will just defer to that when the next instalment of that comes out. And the old Halo fans feel cheated and deceived by 343 for not giving them a new Halo game. This leads to high initial sales but a rapid decline. Win for Devs loose for the players. And truly the first type of people don’t really care because they have another game, while the halo “purists”, as people call them, are sad and cheated and left empty. It’s a win/don’t care/loose situation.
I’m going to keep this short.

And here you generalize the other side.
I’ve started asking some questions to these types of generalizations.
Seeing as you think “we the hardcore fans” who dislike Halo 5 only want Halo 2/3 with better graphics and that the other side do not mind change.
How much change are you prepared to allow? At some point you yourself will start questioning changes and additions to Halo if there’s enough of it. Will you allow all of it?
Can you quantify how much change, and what kind of changes are necessary for the next installment to not be “Halo 2 with updated graphics and some new assets”? How am I to know my ideas for additions and changes just won’t be enough to make it Halo 5, but it’d be Halo 2.5 instead?
