I love Halo 5 so far. A lot of players, it sounds like, love Halo 5 so far. I’m really excited with the feel of it, the balance of it. The new mechanics make the gameplay fun and exciting. I personally don’t care about members of the community that despise it. I loved Halo 2 and thought it was the best game in the series.
Until anniversary came out this year and then it was followed up by the beta. I love how simple and balanced the original mechanics of Halo 2 are, but it is not the great game I remember. There is something to be said about the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia. I personally feel that Halo 5 multiplayer has retained the essence of Melee, guns, and grenades. It just upped the pace. I’m glad Halo is not cut and paste like CoD is, as some members of the forums want.
I also do not find the CoD comparisons even reasonable. What so ever. CoD is able to be played solo, has loadouts, and level advantages. As you rank up, you unlock more perks and weapons, along with killstreaks, that can give you an advantage over new or recreational players. Halo 5 is all about an even playing field. You can still play it solo and get a decent K\D, but if you want to win, team work is required. If you’re playing solo against a team working together to control maps and weapons, you’ll probably get wrecked. Which is what Halo is about. I love this game and can’t wait for it to launce. My friends and I will for sure be there enjoying it, regardless of many small complaints I have read on these forums.

Thanks man! I’m glad so many other players have enjoyed the game. I hope more of them come to these forums. It will be great to get community matches going again!

Preach my Brotha!
Very true OP there have always people that will preach negativity about Halo it has been around since Halo 2 launched. I still remember the people that said Halo was dead after Reach/4 was announced. They are always proved wrong in the end as millions play Halo with every installment and as Halo grows so to will the doom sayers (whom will always be a minority)
I want see this love thread in March 2016… n.n

I’ll be here in March. I do enjoy Halo, yes 4 was not the best in the series. I still played it though, and have enjoyed the playlist on MCC this week. 5 has a lot of promise, and from what has been shown so far, should live up to it.
Nailed it. I wish more felt the same way
I really do look forward to Halo 5

Are any of you aware of the principles that make Halo what it is? Halo represents a concept and ideal. Its not just some game that exists to conform to the current trends in gaming.
Halo is an arena/tactical hybrid FPS. These are more than just words. They represent something. In an arena shooter it is essential to be able to shoot while moving at all times. The sprint mechanism being used in Halo 5 does not allow this. Gunplay is meant to have natural flow in arena shooters. Aim Down Sights (ADS) in Halo 5 violates this principle as well.
Do you see a problem here? The gaming industry is treating us like we are stupid. No longer do we have games being released that are designed with an identity in mind. The goal seems to be to provide a similar experience.
Open your mind a bit. Many of us have been conditioned to think this means that and that means this. Sprint in Halo doesn’t have to be the same exact animation used in games like Titanfall or COD. And besides that, there are other ways to increase player movement speed and map navigation.
I find it strange that people think that by copying and pasting the same mechanisms in every other trendy console shooter that it somehow is innovation in Halo. If anything the people who are not Halo fans or who do not even own an XBox One will now have less reason to buy one and try it. If 343 stayed true to Halo’s principles and designed an arena/tactical to the potential Halo can be, we would have a game like we haven’t had in years. People might truly be interested in buying an XBox One to try it. This won’t happen now. 343 has chosen to provide an experience that is very familiar to other shooters out there.
I know you love Halo. And so do I and many of us. Its just sad to see its potential be stunted. There is still time to change this. But only 343 is in position to do so.
