Hi all,
First of all, I love halo 5… I have 450 hours on the game and I still want to get all the REQs ( I currently have 80% ).
However I feel as though Halo 5 has been rejected by its own community and 343 have been given a lot of hate ( some of which I understand ).
I think that Halo 5 has some problems and could do with a bit more content… which is comming… at some point… hopefully.
I also think that Halo 5 is a bit of a beta for Halo 6 … 343 are using this game to make sure that Halo 6 is going to be great… you can make up your own mind if you think that this is a good thing or not.
Because Halo 5 has been not as successful as some of us would have hoped, I unfortunately believe that Halo 6 could be the last halo if it is not outstanding.
Hopefully 343 have seen what the community liked and didn’t like about Halo 5, and will make the necessary changes to Halo 6.
In my opinion Halo 6 will be the begining of Halo’s rise to power again or its downfall… (please get it right 343… I have faith).
What do you think?.. Is Halo 5 a bit of a beta for Halo 6 or is it just a game that ( in the eyes of many ) has failed?
EDIT: I know that Halo 5 has amazing gameplay… thats not what I think 343 need to improve. Its things that made Halo 5 unpopular, like the slow release of content, the marketing and the way that the REQs are set up in a way that spending real money helps to get the full experience for players who don’t want to grind for 500+ hours.
EDIT 2: A lot of people are mis-understanding what I meant ( because i am bad at explaining things haha ) … What I meant is mainly that 343 have tryed out a lot of new things in Halo 5 and that Halo 5 is very much an experiment for future games.
( it is Obvious that they will use Halo 5 to see what people liked … just as they have with all Halo games… thats not what I meant).
Halo 5 is halo 5 and is great in my opinion. What 343 has got to do is re air ads for this game in its final phase (grifball, forge, infection, firefight, etc in game). I hope they’re working on a business plan for this as this game today isn’t at all what it was in October. Not only would this bring back folks that have abandoned the game and just simply don’t know about the additions but also brand new players. Just think a full blown commercial with all of the features this game will have (still isn’t complete). 343 has done great and their dedication shows but the have to bring in more player population and I feel running commercials like its intial release (will kind of be one) is a good idea.

This is true… however I dont think that their idea to slowly give us content has gone down too well with a lot of players… I dont mind on the most part.
( ecept for the pointless REQ filling dumps that they add with each update).

Your right the slow release of game modes has been a big factor in players leaving imo (would really like some factual numbers). That being said it is what it is and the only thing 343 can do at this point is keep steady/save face and come June mass market halo 5 as it is then. Call it a last ditch effort for halo 5 (not that I’m quitting any time soon I’m trying for that 150) take some of that req money and market this sucker for the folks investing in this game. Many many people I’ve spoken too have no idea grifball is even in it! As I said above, come June we will have a complete marketable halo 5.
I need to also add, because it’s easy to forget it, h5 was marketed on hunt the truth which was a pile of bogus bull manure. This was 343’s biggest mistake by far. Couple that with a campaign that face palms and is barey replayable and only arena and warzone I imagine there was a mass exodus of intial players.

Yeah … its true… They should re-market it as you said in june.
Im not stopping untill after all the updates either, but I fear for the Halo community and For Halo as a franchise that Halo 6 may be the last chance for halo!

Yes this as well… But this is also why I hope that they are using/ will use Halo 5 as a bit of a beta for Halo 6.
Hopefully the decision to remove the req system has come up at some brainstorming session at some point. The req system is arguably the reason this game has so many short comings. It takes resources to make these updates, so where is 343 putting most of their money you ask? Well, simple answer, the req system. Its what will give them promising returns, so it makes sense they would be adding onto the req system like they are rather than focusing on the content that would actually make the game last.
Really though, Halo: CE thorugh Halo 5 is just the beta for Halo Infinity, coming to Xbox Ultima Fall 2168.

Haha… yes

If you look at the previous Halo games you will see that no two games have had the same armor system… So why should Halo 5 and 6?
Unfortunately I think that there will still be a microtransactions system though.

With today’s cost of hardwire, salaries for top programmers, and longevity of consoles. I’m ok with micro transaction. I believe they help with sustainability.

I don’t mind them too much myself ( having spent 100 pounds on REQs)… very guilty…but I know that microtransations are another thing that a lot of people didn’t like about Halo 5.
edit) Also, 343 now have more money to make Halo 5 and Halo 6 better.

I’m fine with them as well, but the way 343 implemented it was poor. They gave most of their support to the req system, and it clearly shows. RNG is also not the way to go, for cosmetics at least. We needed some way to achieve gear through dedication and skill, not the proverbial roll of the dice. The burnable weapons in warzone could be improved as well. I have a fairly solid idea on how to improve this if you’d like me to elaborate. Overall, the microtransactions in this fashion is somewhat pay to win, and that’s just not okay. For it to not be pay to win, but also a microtransaction system, everyone has to be on level grounds before and after a purchase. Again, I have a fairly solid solution to this that has a decent chance of working. The only drawback is that it MAY result in 343 getting slightly less sales on req packs.
I’d say REQs stay, microtransactions stay OPTIONAL!, and yes they should definitely use halo 5 as a beta. Darker halo is what I’d love to see. Halo Reach is still my all time favorite video game because of the atmosphere, emotions they used, games variety, Best campaign (for me), etc.

I would like to hear your idea on how to improve the burnable weapons in warzone…I think it could be done better as well…I just dont know how
343 turned Reach into a test ground for Halo 4 and then they turned Halo 4 into a test ground for 5, this usually happens a year after the game releases and the DLC stops . When the updates to 5 stop 343 will probably start testing new modes and features to see what works.

Yes I think that the microtranactions in Halo 5 are too much pay to win ( or at least pay to get the most fun out of the game without grinding too much ).
I still believe that the marketing for Halo 5 is really for Halo 6. Especially the Cloaked Chief.

This is true. Although, 343 has a tendency to make the same mistake twice. So there is chance it may stay the same. But I still think it is more likely that it will change based on the overwhelming feedback for earnable cosmetics.
