343 has A LOT to pull from. Not Just from the extended universe, but from the very set-up of the Haloverse.
They can do almost anything they want with MIA spartans. (Many spartans really are considered KIA only because no one can confirm what happened)
So what could possibly be the Surprise?
My theory? Kurt isn’t dead.
That’s right, I said it!
What makes me think he isn’t dead? He went up with a nuke! its damn well confirmed! Yeah, so did chief. But the entirety of Onyx was a pretty crazy place, he may not be dead. Hard light shields, half teleported into another dimension Also it would tie in really well to Kurt’s history. Constantly being the guy who shows up out of nowhere. And I think it would be an awesome surprise if Kurt literally shows up and saves everyone’s behind out of NOWHERE. and we’re all “But you’re dead” and he slike well… I’m not. Then he somehow dies in halo 5… and still shows up in halo 6.
The best surprise for me would be for them to bring back the Mauler ;D.
But seriously, it would be cool if some Spartans came back into the fold somehow, though I’m not sure how that would work story wise. Perhaps something along the lines of Spartan Ops, with “Ops” of Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris engaging in past and/ or new missions throughout the Halo timeline, so we as players can get to know them better.

Am I the only one that actually reads the box of the games before buying them? It takes like 7 seconds. There it says if it has splitscreen or doesnt. I mean if you spend 60$ on a product even if you are a casual you still do some research on what you are buying. If people discover it after buying the game then its their fault.

I basically said in a few threads I would like expanded universe Campaign DLC.
Ghost of Onyx alone could be an expansion/major DLC
Altered game mechanics to represent the different armor/spartan capabilities of the spartan III’s
It takes place over a generally long period of time, but can easily be Operation Torpedo through to Kurts sacrifice.
Campaign DLC is also a bonus to the fact it won’t split the multiplayer community, you could also offer SPI Armor custom for multiplayer. in the pack.
