Just thought I’d make this to get some idea of what the community thinks will make for an interesting story in the next proper Halo.
I had a brief discussion with someone that the cloak represents the Chief going rogue, as it appears like something an outlaw would wear.
The loss of Cortana may have drove him to depression and maybe desperation to restore her. That’s one thing, but he may have found out about what ONI tried to pull with decommissioning him and trying to kill Halsey, who the latter the Chief deeply respects. Coupling these two together may have set the chief bat -Yoink- insane, and make him want to exact revenge or something like that.
Okay, maybe not " bat -Yoink- insane", but quite pissed. We discussed the possibility, or rather an idea, that there could be ONI officials trying to bring down the Chief and Halsey in the duration of Halo 5 as a sort of subplot. One of the more extreme ideas we had was the Chief going out to assassinate those at the top of ONI/UNSC who are responsible.
So what things would you guys like to see in the story? What would make a good story to you?

My thoughts may be a bit disjointed, but here it goes:
As far as Halo 5’s story goes, What I saw in the trailer I was not expecting at all. I now see why Halo 5 will be “Dark.” The Master Chief has gone, I want to say rogue, but I believe that to be too strong a word. He’s gone “Off the grid.” One thing that I found odd in the trailer was the presence of Cortana’s chip. As far as I know it was destroyed when the Diadct zapped it. It could be a new chip that Halsey gives him to store cortana in once he finds her? Maybe.
I think that the Master Chief will learn of UNSC/ONI’s betrayal of Halsey and that will make him mad. Not wanting to be part of such a corrupt organization, he leaves the UNSC.He is now on a quest for vengeance. whether the Diadact is still alive? I don’t know, but my money is on his survival. 343 said that things would get worse before they got better, so I see really dark things going on in the first half of the game and thing slowly getting better about half way, or a bit more than half way through. As for things getting better, I would like to see Blue team looking for John,and finding him showing that there is more to live for.
The release date of 2014 has me a bit concerned that Halo 5 has been rushed, but hell, I want to continue the Reclaimer trilogy ASAP. Bring it on!
I agree with the MC going ROUGE Against the UNSC but I personally think that 343 should make a halo 4 DLC about how he went rouge and instead of playing as chief you play as a Marine or ODST hunting him down with 3 other squad mates. At the end of the DLC what I want is for a flash bang to go of right as you see Chief, then your 2 remaining teammates are dead (first one got killed somehow). Anyway the remaining 2 are dead on the ground right as the flashbang goes off and then Chief walks forwards you while your on the ground and then he reaches his hand out and you grab it, then he says “you’re the only one I can trust”. (Screen goes black) And if you complete it on Legendary you see a Slow-Motion camera while the flashbang goes off and you notice that you’re character shot you’re teammates. And in halo 5 the ODST/Marine you played as in the DLC is inside the UNSC but no one knows he betrayed them. Please comment on what you think!
I actually quite like that idea. I had my own idea for another ODST/Marine game a while back where you are a first person driver of a Warthog or Mongoose. This could actually fit well if you added in certain missions on foot or certain missions in a falcon or pelican. In a game like above where your character is chasing Master Chief across the galaxy a pilot/driver role seems to be good. Plus it would interesting to see if this pilot/driver could help aid Chief in Halo 5 by escorting him around.
