Halo 5 still not working. TWC customer.

I have been tolerating the lag, getting booted, and the REQs not working because I will get a game or two occasionally without lag; However, I cannot Forge at ALL. I was kicked three times while in forge alone, not to mention the ridiculous lag.

I have done absolutely everything thus far:
Different ISP
New Modem
Port Forwarding
Advanced Port Forwarding
Bridged Modem
Hardwired the Xbox and turned off all other devices

I pull around 30mbps download, 7mbps upload, O% Packet Loss, ping is around 8.

I went forum to articles posting and researching similar issues, and heard a couple of plausible explanations:
An ex-employee from an ISP company said that they had a similar issue with WoW and TWC customers and there was a company that would hub the signal from TWC to the WoW servers and the issue was there and they contacted them to fix it.

Secondly I found an article about Packet Shaving, where an ISP could pick a big up and coming game title that they think is going to suck a lot of bandwidth or something and basically restrict the connection.

Now both of these are from the internet so I do not know how true they are, but I can tell you that I can turn off every internet using device in my home and still lag out of the smallest MM game in Halo 5 and the MMC. I was playing Star Wars Battle Front, and they have a playlist that is 20 V 20, and I had my daughter on netflix on the tablet and my wife on the laptop shopping for christmas…0 Lag, booting, or connectivity issues of any kind.

I also heard that there was some kind of interaction between Microsoft and 343i where 343 was going to make some kind of patch. If so when is that going to happen?

I just need some kind of explanation, I preordered the game, picked it up at mid night on the morning of october 27th, I have no answers yet, no help of any kind from 343i or Microsoft support, and I have exhausted all of my options through TWC customer support.

I just want answers, I am extremely frustrated and want some help of any kind.

Please and thank you,
Jeremy R. Jackson.

I never have this problem. Maybe you should contact 343 or Xbox for this issue you have. Halo Reach is backwards compatible so you can play Reach’s multiplayer. I’m honestly enjoying Reach way more than Halo 5.

In all honesty, I don’t know what to suggest here. I have a download speed of 6mbps and ping is around 200 - all this and the game very rarely lags for me.

As for the isp removing packets it foes happen. I remember when the old republic went out my isp stopped anyone being able to access the servers from 18.00 to i think 21.00 resulting in alot of irish and germans at least not being able to play. Dont know if its happening with halo though but it does happen

ive had to upgrade from TWCs ‘ultimate package’ for my twos xbox ones last winter and havent had problem since

This

I appreciate the feedback, and I would like to say that I am definitely having problems. there are others having the same problems. Every time I talk to someone, msg them what have you, they act like the problem isn’t on their end. I tell them what all I have done, and they pretty much just tell me, " well thats too bad" I have played halo for the entire series, Ive played halo 2 with the Gunslingers, halo 3 with the Geezer Gamers, and pretty much every group in the GGN, and now I cannot play online with any of them when the game theyre playing doesn’t work for me. 13 years of dedication to a series and I am not even allowed to play, not even my choice.

Please keep posting on this until someone who can help or give me an answer does so. thank you.

I only have one and I am not doing that for ONE game. they are inconveniencing me not the other way around.

I’m having the same problem, tried everything. No problem with any other games. Just tried a match, encountered glitch and screen went black.
Done with halo 5 for now-Just terrible… installing halo reach now.

Please keep this thread going so that I may get some kind of explanation or path to fixing this seemingly never ending lag crap.

I do not have this issue and I use TWC.

I have TWC and this is the only game that gives me grief. I have a great connection and every game, app, movie, whatever, works great. It’s just this game and it drives me nuts.

its not every math either. Half the time it’s great. The other half is unplayable because the majority of the match is spent watching everybody else run into walls.

I’m having the same issues and am also a TWC customer. This hasn’t always been an issue for me, sure some games I would encounter lag naturally because that’s just what happens but now after the December update I notice it’s every single match, making the game completely unplayable. They need a fix for this or something I really want to play! I’ve made threads on this to no avail either, I want answers. I shouldn’t have to upgrade anything when I’m the one being inconvenienced. My connection works great for everything else I do.

This happens to me every single game. It didn’t used to be like that though until December update

Me and friend had this same problem. We tried everything we could on our end to fix the issue. We all have the ultimate package and I generally run around 58 down and 7 up for my speeds yet still had lag. I was using my nighthawk router and the Motorola modem from TWC. My buddy had the same router but a Motorola surfboard he bought himself. After doing some research and talking to some tech folk the problem is the Motorola modems. I went out and bought the netgear cm500 and have had zero problems since. My buddy replaced his Motorola with the same netgear and has had zero problems as well. Hope this helps.

This is so disappointing, it has been ongoing for the past 2 months and we have neither heard anything from 343i or TWC. Something is going on with the servers, blows my mind that I am still having these lag issues and getting kicked out while my buddy with the same setup 10 miles from me has no issues! They need to address this, in the meanwhile I’ve given up on this POS game. Fan since the CE days, doesn’t look like I’m buying another Halo on release date anymore.

I was having this very same issue as well. I finally figured out through some research that I needed to demilitarize a port on my router it’s called a DMZ. Once I figured that out, I then needed to make sure that the Xbox one only connected through that port which is done through settings. One website that I found information on is portforwarddotcom. That is where I found out how to make a static IP for Xbox One so just do a search for that. Then search how to make a port a DMZ port. Once I did all this I’ve never had any more problems. If I get email addresses from anybody I can send them links to the 2 websites I went to which makes it very easy step by step. This was the only thing that stopped ALL of my troubles. I am a TWC customer as well.

I bought your war zone bundle req pack this is my second week with no packs I’m upset with this issues if I can’t get the war zone req packs I would like a refund

Making your xbox the DMZ host is not a permanent solution, it’s a great way to see if you have port forwarding issues, but I would highly recommend you remove the xbox ip from being the DMZ host. A DMZ is for public facing servers on your network, but needs to have a firewall behind it. Youre leaving your network open to anyone when you utilize a dmz host.
If that worked for you, then you need to go into your routers port forwarding and send port 53, 80, 88, 500, 3074, 3544, 4500 to the xbox IP address. Make sure protocol is set to both and the incoming/local port is set to the same. Reboot your router and your xbox and you should have an open NAT type and be able to connect to MM games.

Heard all of these “solutions” and I have had no luck so far, changed modems, but may still be another bad one I guess…How much did you drop on the Netgear? Is it really worth paying extra out of pocket to play one franchise? The MCC and Halo 5 are the only two games that I get lag in on the Xbox One.
