why isn’t there the ability in the (In-game) campaign menu to restart the mission. You have to quit and start it over again and view the cutscenes it takes an hour just to try to speedrun 4 or 5 times
There’s a lot of steps backwards with campaign. Timing, rally points, in game restart, theater, it’s a -Yoink- show in many ways.
Yep its stupid and lazy, and I doubt they will change it. I’m not even a speedrunner and I find it annoying that there is no restart level, and no timing/scoring. The campaign has zero replayability. I finished it once on solo legendary, and I doubt I will ever do it again. If I want some good campaigns I will fire up MCC. Halo 5 has an awesome multiplayer, but the campaign was a massive letdown.
I am glad I have not played the campaign.
I too have not played the campaign a few missions release day with someone, but never finished.
Speed running isn’t cool though… You miss the whole game
I think it likely has something to do with how the game is set up.
When you go to somewhere from the main menu, you enter a kind of lobby, evident of when you leave it and return to the menu. It could be that because of this, you can’t return to the lobby or something, I don’t know, 343 really screwed the pooch with this game.

I think you miss the point of speedrunning then… Its impressive to see how players figure out new ways to progress through a level, and employ them to run through the whole game as fast as possible.
343i could update the campaign with new features, they have taken an interest in tuning its difficulty, which tells me they are willing to change it.

Speed running is something you typically do after you’ve already experienced the game. It’s just a totally different way of playing it. I’m by no means a pro, but I love speedrunning the old Halo games. Yes, I skip all the scenes and miss all the cool events, but it doesn’t matter much when I’ve played them 100+ times each and have it all memorized. I’m not playing for the cinematic experience, I’m playing for the adrenaline rush of doing everything as quickly and perfectly as I can.
Speedruns not your thing? Totally fine, but seriously, speedruns are freaking cool. Watching a pro speedrun a game I love and just dominate the fights, and use brilliant skip glitches is fascinating.
I finally got harbinger today and I gotta agree that the no restart button in game is annoying so I had to hear wardens monologue over and over…
