Let start off by saying that i really enjoy halo 5. For me i goes Halo: Reach, Halo 5, Halo 3 from best to worst. However, what is the deal with Spartan customization. With each new halo game we get less options to mix and match armor for our Spartans. In this game we can only change body, visor, and helmet! In Reach we could change helmet, visor, body, left shoulder, right shoulder, utility and armor effect. Is it too much to ask for more customization. Sure, you could say that there is already to may armor pieces to get from reqs, but I think they should let us unlock all armor at once and interchange shoulder pieces and body pieces of different armor. To me it is disappointing, what do you guys think?

Ever since 2012. Even the MCC suffered from 343i’s failure to provide an adequate amount of character customization. Now with Halo 5, the only way to unlock armor is with RNG microtransaction packs.
It’s just a sad situation.

Except you don’t need to buy them, people need to stop complaining about being able to buy the packs, its not that hard to get them in game. don’t like that you can buy them with real money? Don’t buy them.

I dont buy packs, i earn then. My point however, is that we have almost no spartan customization options.

You’re right, we don’t need to buy them. But that’s not the point.
The problem is that the only way to unlock armor is to obtain (whether it be with your time or with your money) RNG microtransaction packs (REQs). You don’t know what armor you’re going to get (if you even get armor). Want, say, Recon armor? Or a gold visor? Well too -Blam!-ing bad, you’re just going to have to suck it up and wait to get lucky sooner or later.
With Halo 3, you had to actually earn armor buy completing in-game challenges. With Halo: Reach, you could complete in-game challenges and spend your earned in-game currency on armor (the more valuable armor being more expensive).
Microtransactions are never a good thing.

Great Point, I 100% agree with you. If you want good armor in halo 5, you have to put many, many, many, many, many hours into the game just to get lucky.

You don’t NEED to buy them but it’s REALLY tempting to since it takes FOREVER to farm req points unless you constantly play Warzone.
armor shouldn’t be apart of an RNG system, hell I forgot how Halo 4’s armor system worked but it was better than this.

I actually prefer the halo 5 way
then you get all kinds of armor instead of just going for one set of armor and just getting those.

I’ve been playing a lot more arena than warzone and it doesn’t really take that long. It’s not tempting to buy them.
Don’t forget knee pads and wrist. I’m genuinely annoyed too, because the assets are all there. I also hate how strict the art direction is, the armor sets look so similar.
Bring back reach system and armor. It’s that easy. You can add a few crazy armor that’s in halo 5. -Yoink- it. Put every armor from every game with the reach system
Thats why i liked reach so much! I could do whatever i wanted and no one had a spartan just like mine!

I would like a more mixed bag. I want more armor, like Helioskrill, that you have to earn. Even if 30% of the armor was earnable through commendations and achievements, I’d be happier.
That said, I intend to unlock everything in the game, so the REQ pack system doesn’t bother me. I’m already going to put a few hundred hours into this game. And I like that it’s more varied. People change their armor constantly this way, myself included.
while I agree with the whole “more options” part of the armor, I don’t agree with you guys saying the whole REQ thing is stupid. I really like it, i’m one of the ones who really wanted recon. so guess what I did? I played a lot got a lot of points and boom I got recon. I mean it is in the uncommon section so it’s not rare. REQ was put into place to keep people playing and would you look at that! people are playing just to get REQ and get armor. quit -Yoinking!- already, I would like more options like shoulders, knee pads, utility and so forth. but the REQ system is really good.

That would be amazing
I just wish that armor was unlockable and not in req packs. it wouldve allowed 343 to add more customization options
I just don’t see how customization should be a serious issue with the game. I’d rather they make the game play great than it be all about the looks be either be rushed or unfinished. Armor looks have always been just a “bonus” to me. It’s also a fps game, not going to be looking at my character until stat screen shows up. Not saying customization is pointless but I’d rather they add stuff like more playlists to the game over extra armor customization.
I’d also like to note, reach had the largest variety if customization, however I’d bet most people probably dislike how most of them looked. Point being even adding more to h5 in armor looks most probably still won’t like the way they look. Having the choice to mix and match will help however.

I personally liked the armor designs best in halo reach. From the armor effects to the robotic arms, everything was amazing. The colors were better as well.
