generic. It’s just not memorable or good music to be honest.
reach and ODST had different music as they were spinoffs. Halo 5 is a continuation of the core storyline so why on earth are they refusing to use that song… You know… THE HALO THEME TUNE.
You’d NEVER find a Star Wars movie without the legendary theme by John Williams. And Marty was the John Williams of videogames.
im not a fanboy, I’m not horrified by the fact that they have a different composer, I’m just saddened that they can’t bring us a new version of the original themes as well as some new ones.
i mean what the hell is that crap when you first go onto the menu. That isn’t halo. That could be any game sci-fi or not.
This is not -Yoinking!- good enough.
Sounds fantastic. I really get a sense of scale from what I’ve heard. You’ve got the chants, the percussive elements, with some new touches as well. Very happy with this.

Whether you like the music or not, The idea of it being 'Good music, Is entirely opinion based. I personally love it.
-
Maybe because it’s a main menu of the multiplayer beta that has nothing to do with the main story of Halo 5. Or perhaps they just wanted to show off the new soundtrack instead of giving us the same theme.
-
Really? You most certainly act like one.
-
We have had different composers for Halo’s music since 2010. Why would Halo 5 be any different? Marty moved on from Space operas. Let him do what he wants.
-
Once again, This is opinion based. I personally think this was a excellent piece of music. What if Marty composed this, Would your opinion be different then?
-
Once again, Opinion. Not fact. I think the music here is beautiful. To me, It’s a vast improvement.
As I have stated, I think this music is fantastic.
Kazuma Jinnouchi, If you ever see this; You have exceeded my expectations.

I’m sorry but Marty O’Donnel does not compare to John Williams. He’s a great guy and a great (albeit repetitive) composer, but he doesn’t come close to matching the legacy of John Williams. His music is known the world over and in the future I have no doubt he’ll be remembered the way Richard Strauss, John Sousa, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Richard Wagner, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Bach, etc are.
Marty is known for composing a few popular games that most people probably bought for the multiplayer.
OOohhhhhh I like this music a lot. A great deal more than the Halo 4 menu music.

You call that other guy a fanboy and you’re the one here gargling balls.

lol fail Marty is a billion better
I like it but at some points it seems too (movie-ish?) Like it could be in a Spider-Man movie and fitt perfectly
Still kinda good to be honest. Just needs less cinematic feels and more video game like. If that makes sense.

Blinding praising one composer while putting down others is being a blind fanboy.
Saying that a Composer exceeded my expectations is stating that it was better than I expected.
Bit of a difference there.
The music is great. And you know what? It’s only menu music. I can’t imagine what the actually theme songs and campaign music will be.
Whether you like it or not I find it to sound epic! Just as the Halo series is to me
plus Marty will be back im sure of it

Ye I know, Williams is my all time favourite composer. I am just saying Marty, in my eyes, is to videogames or at least Halo what Williams is to films

I don’t think I’m being a fanboy. I have no problem with having a new composer or having new themes, I’m merely annoyed by the fact that the old ones, or variations of them, are not found at all within the new scores. With halos beautiful catalogue of music, does that not seem odd to you??
i was thinking more 117, which as you know is also done by Kazuma. That carries the halo theme and uses previous elements where as this new score could be from any old game.
halo deserves music that is recognisable and iconic, not some generic crap like this
I think the musics in the H5G trailers are more better than this menu music. Compare the 2 music video. Here’s what I say. In my opinion the best part starting at about 8:20.

> I think the musics in the H5G trailers are more better than this menu music. Compare the 2 music video. Here’s what I say. In my opinion the best part starting at about 8:20.
Ye, in fairness that theme is actually really good. I’ll just be so so dissapointed if some of the original themes don’t come back.
The thing is music is an art form and it is hard to recreate. It’s like if you stoor the work of one artist in a room with one fake piece that looked similar. It wouldn’t be quite the same. This is how I feel when series change composers.
the new music is good and everything, but check out this which I’m sure you’ll have heard before. For me there’s no Camparisson. While not being original halo music I.e. From CE or whatever, it retains the same theme and goes with the atmosphere of the game and the universe incredibly well. This is something I’m just not seeing in the new music.
Having said that… 117 was amazing. That’s what I’m getting at. 117 was different, yet it still felt in place and suited to the Halo universe, it even had references to the old music. We need more like 117.

Quite underwhelming. I know Halo 4 wasn’t great but Halo 5 seems less interesting to hear so far. I think 343i really do need Martin O’Donnell back asap if that’s what we’re getting.
“Boring and generic” is the only way I can describe what I heard. It lacks something that makes me want to hear it more than any random piece of orchestra music. Moreover, it doesn’t have anything that even remotely resembles “Halo sound”. I hope the full Halo 5 soundtrack will have something better to offer. I’m not at all impressed by this. It’s as underwhelming as the Halo 4 soundtrack was.
I do not like it, what happened to the ancient mysterious feel that made me fall in love with halo? It sounds like music from independence day.
