This is not a topic for me to sit here and complain about how bad the game is. I do love this game. Just as of lately I find this game is either:
a) servers are suffer from lag, matches take awhile to load.
b) shots or melee don’t register, one game I can 5-6 shot people other games it seems to take an extra bullet, and melee seem to fail a lot,
c)more and more smurf accounts are being made to help friends boost to onyx.
d)fellow teammates either lag out or quit due to whatever reason.
Saying some of these things as a Halo player for over 10 years. I still think this game is one of the best FPS games on the Market today but is debatable.
but this game is slowly dying. I notice a lot of my friends wont bother with Halo, and as a game the more people who play this the better.
People would rather play Destiny or Cod due to the fact that the 4 things I mentioned above is to me ruining this game and ruining this community.
I get server issues even though I find this frustrating but all the amounts of people quitting and making these smurf accounts to me is ruining it.
The last few days I have been trying to Solo arena and slayer and I swear almost every game someone has dropped or I face smurf bronze accounts with a onyx on there team. Do people seriously need to do this in order to achieve there goals in this game now a days. I cant even legit grind for a onyx unless I have some luck. And I know a lot of other people agree. I do play with others but sometimes as an adult we have lives and they aren’t on but saying this I do play this game for the competition and it’s a joke when I see this stuff.
I get some people are legit bad and can’t earn a legit onyx but that’s okay. If anyone is reading this I didn’t make this topic to sit and -Yoink-. I just would like to maybe help raise some awareness on the smurf accounts because I notice a lot! Maybe help guide people away from making these and legitimately earn and play. Because if you need a boost to me your just trash. Go play Call of Duty and ruin that game because Halo 3 everyone played this. All I see on twitch and on Halo 5 is people saying it’s -Yoink-. its garbage. its broken.
well the only way that’s going to change is the community itself not the developers because halo 5 is what it is and as far as the added features etc. its here to stay.

I feel you. I report every single smurf player I come across, and have even gotten confirmation from microsoft’s enforcement team that they’ve taken action against some of the smurfs I’ve reported. It seems like with the last season reset more smurfs have started popping up, and I can’t help but wonder if they realize how pathetic they are that they have to intentionally rank low just so they can feel better “bullying” lesser skilled players, or if they’re just living in denial…

Creating an alternate gamertag and intentionally playing way below your skill level in order to place in the lower brackets. The goal is to party up with other people and help them boost their rank by matching lower players.
If you see a match with 3 onyx players and a silver on a team vs a bunch of gold/Plat players, a smurf is involved.

Oh, okay. So no different that creating a new account to reach level 50 easier/faster just like players did back in the Halo 3 days. Got it! Didn’t know people called em Smurk Accounts these days
I just find it increasingly hard to meet people who play this game legit. I play this to win. Today I had day off work so I was like yah i’ll play Halo. I have now played about 15 games and half of these games were smurfed or someone lagged out or even worst my teams shots are nerf bullets.
this game is increasingly feeling more broken day by day. I hear pro’s say this SnakebiteFPS from Counter Logic Gaming was saying this in his stream yesterday. Talked about how theres better games out there he just plays Halo because well… it makes him money. Better games like COD. Why do you think Formal left Halo to Join Optic Gaming Call Of Duty? Because 343 only cares about the money you put into the game and the req card packs they sell up. Arena is neglected and Warzone gets buffed.

got diamond 2 in arena and diamond 5 in slayer lost my 6 not to long ago =(.
my comment about there being better games out there I don’t like to hear this. Halo use to dominate. I know this has been said and heard thru out forums and in videos.
I want this game to be what it use to be or close to. I am older now yes and it may not excite me as much as it did when I was a teenager. but as a hardcore fps gamer I find no other game requires the skill that halo does. saying this I want to play and have fun, not log in have a teammate quit I loose rank cuz of it. then next game same -Yoink-. then next game I’m diamond 1 facing 2 onyx and a bronze who beast my team. myself included sometimes as well.
games lacking the fun appeal. I get if your -Yoink- your get crapped on. but I have friends who are very good at this game, myself am somewhat good.
cant play a game were things I mentioned occur.
new gamers are going to get on halo and get -Yoink- on so hard that they will not want to play this game… and that’s because of smurfing. and when they do get good they lag out and loose rank and stay at gold/platinum.
seems like the true onyx players are these diamond 5/6s I see soloing.

- I get that. I’d like to see an increase in the range of skill matches in H5. Would alleviate this and lower the perceived “sweatiness” of the game.
2 and 3) Both stupid rationales. The former is ridiculous because they are ample ways to “warm up” without trying to circumvent the matchmaking system. And the latter is, like I said, a stance held by the emotionally fragile and developmentally short changed.
The whole ranking system is messed up. In every rank level (well at least diamond and below) you will often get destroyed by someone going 22-4. If that happens enough you give up on grinding rank because you know those players are gaming the system. When you don’t care about rank you are tempted to create another account or derank your main. Then the game doesn’t know who is who because there are silvers slaying platinums.

This wouldn’t be the best idea. It would just make ranks even more meaningless. It’s either the matching system itself is bad (which it is), or it’s the low population (which it is). The combination just creates a bad matchmaking experience for higher level players.
Warming up in an Arena 4v4 setting. You don’t play WZ to warm up for TA.

if you want to warm up its called find a friend and play octagon. de ranking yourself is not a beneficial way to warm up if you ask me…

Sometimes is just a temporary way to overcome this faulty ranking/matchmaking system and keep playing the game.
I am in this exact situation, with the only exception that i haven’t create a “smurf” account yet (and i’m not going to, Titanfall 2 is almost here).

Seriously they reply I’ve never had a reply for any people I’ve reported. Though I’ve mostly reported people for hate speech or modding in Gta v if they grief but some of the times modders can detect who has reported them or just mod the ban away. I would of expected to get a reply for modders at least.
Ive only reported smurfs if they are noticeably smurfing like going from -7kd to +7kd in the space of an hour or so.

It’s awful, they are literally everywhere lately. And for what? So they can achieve a fake rank? Why would they want to be in Onyx if they don’t have the skill? People will expect them to be great players, and they’ll suck. It’s pointless.
