So, Im not really sure what the active player base is looking like lately, but I’ve had trouble finding matches in certain playlists like SWAT and Breakout as of late. The last month or so has been the first time since the game launched that I’ve had this problem and I’ve had the " Unable to Match There may not be enough players to support a game in this playlist." message show up quite a bit lately. Unless Im getting the wrong message it seems the player base has dropped off drastically and or has abandoned certain playlists altogether. This got me thinking, what would it take to get some players back in the servers, and what might draw in some fans who skipped halo 5 or only played a little bit?
That brings us to my questions. Would anyone be interested in single player dlc for Halo 5? Do you think 343 would do anything like that for this game? If halo 6 is still a whiles away, and with the Xbox “Scorpio” right around the corner, do you think Microsoft and 343 would want to show an already beautiful game like Halo 5 off on the Scorpio with a 4k patch relaunch and some DLC? I haven’t looked too much into 343s stance on single player dlc for this game or in general so before anyone flips out and starts quoting every tweet from 343 for the last 2 years I’m just throwing some stuff out here on the forums, no need to go all keyboard warrior on me. Anyway, Id be ok with single player DLC if it was done right and if the price was right, and I think it might be a surprising way to bring some attention back on a game with an excellent multiplayer and a lackluster campaign “narratively speaking”. Any thoughts would be appreciated regarding any of the questions I’ve asked or any thoughts in general about the state of the game/franchise and what the future may hold. Again, no need for Forum Grinders to come on here and try and shame me or anyone else with every factoid on the planet regarding this topic, however if you do have some useful information about any of these topics by all means please share! Im just looking for some open discussion on the topic in general. Thanks in advance!

I actually enjoyed Spartan Ops in Halo 4, so I wouldn’t mind seeing something like that return.
I wouldn’t pay for it, though.
Also, if the DLC were restricted to single players only, that would be bad. No reason why it couldn’t support co-op like the rest of the campaign; would probably be more appropriate to call it Campaign DLC, or Story DLC.
I hated Spartan Ops - did not enjoy just relentlessly gunning through enemies for a very poor in-game story (aside from the cutscenes).
It would be a first for Halo to have additional story DLC that wasn’t planned with the game, but that doesn’t make it a bad thing. If it was required to be bought with actual money, that would disappoint me only if it was required to play Halo 6. If it was a teaser for Halo Wars 2 or something, I’d be okay with it.
I would like some sort of expansion to H5’s current story, lets face it, its execution was pretty bad. Also, it would be nice for forge mode to go offline, they already proved it works, and perhaps bring back firefight. I just want some more things to do offline in Halo 5

I think you guys made great points! Probably not likely but I’d like to see some story DLC, and so you think something like this would boost the player base or just bring in the faithful like us?

I think many people would be excited just like we are, but if you ask me whether this would bring more people into the franchise I doubt it. Multiplayer games are the most popular right now, singleplayer games are underrated. But I do think this would help bring back old players and keep the ones that are not satisfied with the current features.
A adventure in the past. Say a few levels in the shoes of different Spartan-II or Spartan-III teams. Just simply turn off Spartan abilities and even reuse previous title assets to save time and budget.

You say that, but that is what allows 343 to update the game as much as they do and not charge us for it. When Bungie was in charge you had to pay for new maps or anything with substantial content.
I’m not a fan of micro-transactions either, but it isn’t all negatives. They have their place.
On topic, I would love to have single-player DLC. It would add to the story. It’s something I would pay for even.

I agree with you 100%. It seems like people just write off micro transactions as this automatically evil thing, which is ironic on this forum because the way 343 did it in halo 5 is perfect. Its there if you want to support them, but you can get the same exact items with req points, and it doesn’t take a crazy amount of time to get enough points either.
