Halo 5 should have weapon/vehicle customization

Exactly what it says on the tin, we should be able to customize and change/upgrade our weapons in the game [im talking campaign, warzone, forge and custom games]

For weapons the customization would go something like this… [id put what id expect vehicle customisation to be like and would want it to be like but the word limit isnt large enough]
Cosmetic customization ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aiming Retical -
Lets you change your aiming retical to that of any gun, also lets you customize it to make your own reticle

Ammo counter -
Lets you change the colour of your ammo counter [default as blue for assault rifle]
Also allows you to change the font used, size of the font , weather it uses numbers or roman numerals and so on. You should also be allowed to have a dinamic counter which would change colour depending on how much ammo you have [so say its blue for 100% - 60% ammo, Yellow for 59% - 30% ammo and Red for 29% - 0% Ammo.]

Lights -
Lets you add different lights to your gun and change their colour [lets you choose from any colour and so on] It should also let you chose the lights brightness. Decals could be anything from shapes to characters to letters and numbers

Decals -
Allows you to place a few decals on your gun [as many as you want] these should be full custom decals like the ones from black ops’s own decal/emblem editor

Skins -
Lets you apply skins to your weapon as well as allows you to make your own skins for your weapons. You should be able to change the colour of the skins even if they are ones youve unlocked, this would allow for increased customization

Weapon Colours -
Would consist of primary, secondary and tertiary. It would allow you to change the colour of your weapons components and you should also be able to change the material of the colour/paint.

Hardlight -
Allows you to put hardlight patterns and things around the outside of your weapon or vehicle, as seen in halo onlines spartan customization. You would be able to choose the pattern of the light, how far away or closeto the weapon it is, its size and colour.

Material -
Lets you chose the material of your weapons, and its different parts. So say you could make your magnum look old and rustic or have a DMR with some wooden parts.

Tracer -
Lets you chose the colour of your weapons ammo’s tracer, so you could have a BR that fires bursts of pink bullets.

Side you hold it -
Lets you choose weather you want your character to hold the weapon in his/her left or right hand.

Practical Customization ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barrel -
Lets you change the barral of your weapon should have multiple sizes [Very Small, Small, Average, Large and Massive] aswell as multiple ‘tiers’ [Very light, Light, Average/Default, Heavy, Super heavy] these would denote the size and shape of the barrel in question.

Barrel Attachment -
Various attachments which go onto the length of your barrel, allows for more customization

End of Barrel attachment / Muzzle Attachments -
Stuff like silencers, sound enhancers, anti tank looking things you see on snipers and so on.

Main Body -
Lets you choose the look of the main body of the weapon

Upper attachments -
Stuff like the AR’s ammo counter, lets you customize this to chose from different ammo counters among other things [so you could say choose either the halo 3 style or halo reach style one for your AR as an example]

Scope / Sight -
Lets you chose the scope or sight attachment for your gun, lets you chose from a massive veriaty of scopes from the red dot one seen on the BR to the sniper scope.

Lower/Underbarrel attachment -
Stuff like grips, grenade launchers, shotguns, Bayonets, metal/Armor blocks and so on.

Left Side attachments -
Can be stuff like spare ammo, laser sights, flashlights and so on

Right side attachments -
Same as above

Stock -
Lets you customize the type of stock you have, its size, material and so on. So say you could have a BR with a wooden stock or something.

Trigger -
Lets you change the weapons trigger, to match trigger, standard and so on

Magazine -
Stuff like Extended mag, drum mag and so on, holds more bullets or larger bullets.

Gas system -
Lets you choose between standard, under gassed and over gassed [along with a few intermediary types between the three]

Ammo type -
Lets you choose the ammo type your weapon would use, anything from standard to armor piercing to incendiary and so on. for Covenant weapons it would change the plasma colour [and thus the kind of damage it does]

I’m usually keen on customization but this kind of customization would just be unfair, especially in Warzone which may be not as balanced as arena but I’m sure it is still balanced enough. The Aiming reticle would especially worry me as they are surprisingly important for balance. The PC game, Toxikk, is an amazing example on how this is.

NO. I don’t want halo to become battlefield. Although I’m ok with weapons skin.

No thank you.

How is an aiming reticle important to balance? it would just be a cosmetic change not a practical one [changing the reticle would only change how it looks not how the gun performs]

How would the customization be unfair? Warzone is hectic enough and if need be i would be more than happy enough for this to just stay in campaign, forge and customs [where you could make your own custom weapons for custom game modes]

You know there are hundreds of games which came out BEFORE battlefield that had weapon customisation… there are literally no downsides to this at the very least it would increase replayability for campaign and add new possibilities for forge, custom games and so on.

I’m aware of that. But I think halo should lay-off the weapon customization in my opinion.

What even if it stayed out of matchmaking and was only in campaign, customs and forge and would in that case have literally no downsides

That sound fair.

If you insist, this may just become a wall of text below though
In toxikk, reticle customization is a major feature. Different reticles show different things, mostly accuracy, aiming, spread and everything to do with your gun. If the reticle shape does not match the recoil, that could really -Yoink- things up. If you customize your reticle for a shotgun to be smaller than the actual shotgun spread, then you will sub-consciously and constantly presume that the shotgun has less spread meaning you can use your shot gun at a longer range… which you cant. Meanwhile, if someone else has kept the default shotgun reticle, which has range, accuracy, spread and everything to do with the gun in mind, they will always win in a shotgun head-to-head battle because the reticle has been designed specifically to the specifics of the shotgun. Someone who is an addict to the game, which there are many, would make a custom reticle which magically fits perfectly into everything about the gun would almost always beat anyone using the default reticle.

Now with Sniper Rifles, there are so many ways that the reticle can upset the balance, even the change from a dot to crosshair would teach the player when to slow down for the headshots. If a a person could make that amazing god-like Astrix (*) for snipers, light rifles and every precision weapon, every game would become camp fest since with this simple reticle change would give everyone a suprising great advantage to their old self once again letting themselves know when to slow down aiming based of the reticle.

With Assault Rifles and other forms of Machine gun, it’s all about the recoil. Recoil automatically changes the reticle size for the increased spread and upward movement. If custom reticles are made, even incorrect shapes could -Yoink- up the interpretation of recoil and generally make aiming a hard thing for anyone who doesnt have a circular based reticle which is the exact correct size based on the spread and accuracy. If your reticle isn’t like that, then the whole recoil system would mess up giving the player incorrect information about how the weapon is working, meaning that with the AR at least, the player will have no idea when to aim where based on how much the bullets are spreading.

I knew I’d write a wall. And I meant it when I said it was suprisingly important.

I’m all in favour of a few custom options for Warzone, but this is way, way, way too much. Implementing even half of this would make it impossible to tell what anyone was using until you start eating lead, which is a key, if unnoticed, part of combat.
Plus, I really don’t see the benefit of implementing an insane amount of weapon customisation like this when the core gameplay is at odds to it. If you have to restrain a feature that requires a massive amount of manpower to implement from a large portion of the game, which this is, it’s simply not worth it.

My opinion is that halo doesn’t really need an in depth customization, this is more battlefield mixed with fallout customization and Halo:Online. The way the multiplayer is set up wouldn’t really allow for choosing between attachments, however that does not exclude the fact of different tiered weapons. The ammo counter color sounds like a neat idea, but then again it will have to be tied with the different tiers(which they currently have). The changing the reticules and putting decals is a little bit to similar to BO1, and we already have smart scope so theres no need to change the color or shape of the reticle into a rainbow circle. These ideas sound good but it simply does not fit into the foundation of Halo Multiplayer

That’s too much detail, 343 wants Halo 5 to be a competitive arena shooter. Even with Warzone, we don’t need this much customization.

I’m on for weapon skins; 343i could make those skins and us the players should be able to customize colors on skins.
Also aesthetic-only attachments is a thing I favour.
That would be it. Thanks.

Halo should have all of that. It needs to have all the good things from all these other games.

I agree about the reticle at least. I have a hard time seeing it in certain areas of the map

No.

It seems just too battlefield related, and it would just be a waste of more unnecessary customization that the game doesn’t need right now.
