Halo 5 Should Have Looked Like Halo Online

Title says it all. Whoever is working on the art for Halo Online gets why people enjoyed the old Halo art style and preserves the look even in the creation of new maps and assets. The only thing I would say looks off is the armour, which doesn’t even seem like it would fit in H5.

Thoughts?

I like the idea but H5 shouldn’t be like it. I pretty sure Halo Online is a 100% pay to win

Art style, mate. Aesthetics is how stuff looks.

Ahh, I thought you were correcting me on its essentially pay to win. My bad  But I agree with that, looks amazing but I don’t think H5 would better from it. I rather them release it as its own game over here

But I feel like 343 has spent so many resources on changing the art and trying to explain how those changes worked lore wise or retconning stuff just for the sake of it. There’s no point in it and the resources could have been allocated to improving gameplay mechanics and effects even further (the explosions for example).

Nahh I much rather they take the art where they want to take it. Then have them try to beat bungie at bungie. I had my time with bungies art style and loved I can let it rest tbh.

You do realize that while it’s the Halo 3 engine for the maps and skybox, it’s got Halo 4 weapons, armor, vehicles, and almost everything else, right? It looks horrendous seeing the two mixed together.

It’s not pay to win if you’re not in Russia and you’re playing the El Dewrito mod.
Not that I particularly recommend it, it boils down to Halo 4 gameplay on Halo 3 maps, and Halo somehow just doesn’t feel right on mouse/keyboard

Still surprised that anyone can find anything to get excited about in a game which is a port of an eight year old title which has been nerfed to run on… what, a 386 chip set? No. Thank. You. My xbox one may not be the most cutting edge technology out there, but it has to be better than the typical teenaged Russian’s PC.

Nah OP, I’d rather stay with the current style.

In my eyes, Halo Online looks like Mass Effect 3 run through Reach’s Juicy filter, then dumped into Halo 3 maps. Aesthetically, that is, not gameplay-wise. Honestly I prefer H5’s style to that.

Halo Online is mostly ported assets from Halo 3. It’s literally built on the Halo 3 engine.

tbh the Xbox One probably couldn’t run Halo Online at typical settings; 1080p/60fps (and above) with no resolution scaling, and a much larger field of view than the console titles.
Halo 5 will still be a much better game though

I kind of agree. I’m not happy with the visual direction halo 5 has taken at all.

But H:O was built for rubbish Russian PCs. Literally. I’m pretty sure that if it can run H4 at 1080/60, Halo Online wouldn’t be a problem.
