Why not innovate the campaign by throwing in some minigames?
Spartan Assault broke the fourth wall by aknowledging it was a game simulator representing historical events. It even had borders to remind the player that its a data pad being used.
What if a mission in Halo 5: G lets you pick up data pads and play minigames on them?
I thought it would be cool if Halo 4 added a data pad on the level shutdown (where you are in the hangar bay and there easter eggs and stuff), if 343i had a datapad lying around the level and you “Press RB to use data pad”, if you already own Spartan Assault on your Xbox One, Halo MCC pauses, and Spartan Assault opens up. Kinda like how the Halo channel opens up when you find a terminal.
Maybe Halo Spartan strike can be a minigame found within Halo 5 G? Or maybe a demo level?
I like little stuff like that. Reminds me of Penumbra and how you were able to play Galaga in-game. Developers don’t do enough of these cool little things.
That would be cool. I have not played sparten assault yet because I’m an fps type person and cannot justify spending money on a game like that.
if it were included for free in H5 I might give. It a spin.
A demo for Spartan Strike in Halo5 would be a really cool idea, might convince a few people to buy the full thing if they like it.
May be for loading screens but they are not so long for that thou.
There are many good ways to innovate Halo’s campaign. I don’t think adding mini games is one of them. It just doesn’t make any sense… neither Chief nor Locke are going to stop in the middle of their stories or hunts or battles to pick up a tablet and play Spartan Strike. I mean, how do you contextualize that?
I also don’t think it’s a good allocation of resources / priorities. Even a developer as big as 343 backed by a publisher as massive as Microsoft still has limited resources and deadlines to meet… go watch the episodes of The Sprint on Halo’s YouTube channel to get a sense of how long and how much work it takes and how many people are involved in creating even a single multiplayer map.
The point I’m trying to make is that every moment spent on one feature is a moment lost on another. So adding minigames to Halo 5 might sound kinda cool, I guess, but would you really want minigames added at the expense of I don’t know, a more polished single player campaign? Better AI? Better gameplay? Better graphics? More weapons? More stable matchmaking? Etc?

Lol thats so funny.
I pictured Chief shooting at prometheans then suddenly seeing a datapad, and starts playing Spartan Strike and dies from gunfire.
When I see talk of mini games all I think of is unpopular and intrusive things like lockpicking from TES/FO and hacking in Mass Effect.
that would be something new and unique i like it
what the heck… thats a crazy idea… its cool though i don’t know if i’m completely on board with that idea though.
