Hey so is anyone else slightly annoyed how in Halo 5 your service tag above your spartan’s head HAS to be 4 charecters? Personally, I’ve had a 3 letter long service tag since halo 2 and don’t really want to change it now after all this time. Why can’t I just have 3?
Yeah I wish we had the option of 1-5 characters.

I’m 100% in agreement with you. I’ve had a 3-letter tag since Halo 2 as well, and I can’t adequately replicate the meaning with 4 letters/numbers.
My tag was always “4ce” - Double meaning of Ace and Force. You can’t do that with 4 characters. You end up with Fork, or “frce,” or some other bastardization, none of which carry the double meaning.

My friends and all just do our first name so it makes it super easy to call out.
3letter is was much better imo
I think they changed it to make it more unique for the player. If I number it quickly, you have 46 656 possibilities with three characters, and up to 1 679 616 with four.

Personally I don’t mind. Just get creative and stuff. I just went with doge as my service tag

Yep, bothers me too. In Reach I was X05. Now I go by X007 (woulda been 005, but since it HAD to be 4 characters and it happened to be two 0s, I figured why not go with a Bond theme?) I would rather just have my X05 though.
It all comes back to that lack of spartan customization that is one of my biggest issues with this game… One of them…

Yes but for Reach, you could use the space the bar which is what I did. In H5 that wouldn’t work so now I’m “1EYE” since I have only 1 working eye.
