Halo 5 Sales vs Other Halo

I keep seeing that people moan about H5 sales numbers, has no-one considered that this could be because there’s not many XBOX ONE consoles now compared to latter Halo’s on the 360?

The facts are that Halo 5 outsold MCC on release and made more money than Spectre on the first release day. It will however struggle to beat Reach/H4 as the 360 had a much larger console market to sell to, currently if you compare launch figures for XONE and 360 you’ll know that the console is more successful with 20m sales, compared to just over 16m of 360. As of Oct 2013 there were over 80m Xbox360’s, though I wonder how many were replacements for RROD. Source

Yet another person grasping at straws to try and make excuses for 343i incompetence and poor performance…

Maybe the fact that Halo 4 wasn’t well recieved and that the MCC was a complete and utter disaster at launch contributed to the fact that the game didn’t sell well. My personal experience… I bought the xbox one solely to play MCC, and I was very unhappy with the product for obvious reasons. So do you know what I did with Halo 5? I rented it because I didn’t trust 343i anymore and then ultimately decided not to buy the game.

How is he grasping at straws? He isn’t for or against 343 in this post, just stating a theory he has about sales figures.

Good lord why is everyone also so 0 to 60, knee jerk reaction on here?

Madness, you not tried coming back since?

I have played all the Halo’s since launch, had the original Xbox and I think that this game is great, if not lacking some features. Agree MCC was an absolute disaster!

Well percentage of people with xbox ones buying halo 5 compared to percentage of people with 360s buying other halos would be more accurate

I rented it a second time after the first update and was again not impressed in the slightest. Gameplay mechanics are gimmicky and mostly copy other titles. Aiming mechanics do not resemble anything in previous installments. Warzone and REQ packs really bug me. They shouldn’t be pushing micro transactions in halo. First campaign level actually got me pumped with the intro cut scene and then at the end they set it up for a boss fight against jul mdama… Or not, the just kill him in the cut scene. Epic fail

Nope. Halo 5 is mediocre, the word got out quick and a lot of people didn’t waste their time.

I don’t think it warrants that many “nopes” you can’t deny that there are less Xbones out there than 360s, it had to affect sales some

Lol, the game sold just fine. People just keep telling themselves what they want to believe.

Define ‘fine’

I bought an xbox only to play halo and im going to just say Halo 6 and Halo Wars 2 need to be epic for me to be satisfied with my purchase!

Kinda sounds exactly like what you are doing

Good enough where 343i made a big profit and to the point where Halo 5 survived despite having a lack of gametypes at launch

I see

Yeah percentage of sales would be a much better analysis. I don’t think Halo is anywhere near dead, with the Spielberg Halo TV series (no ide what’s happening with that) that will surely boost the popularity for H5, H6 and beyond?

There are hundreds, if not thousands of factors that go into how well a game performs.
Its naive of people to try and pin it on one thing.

I guess your entitled to your own opinion, but by the sounds of it you want 343 to make the game exactly as you want it. how are they pushing micro transactions ? I’ve said it a million times i have never spent a penny on req packs. as well as mechanics not resembling any of the previous games I’ve been playing halo since C.E and i can see the resemblance from past games but with new additions as you expect they can not keep producing the same game over and over they have to make changes.

It sold almost 4 millions and sales keep increasing. I think it is pretty good considering the Halo 4 and MCC s h i t storm and the games is great but lacks maps for warzone.

Sales numbers do not define a quality game.

Case in point. Halo 4 sold twice as many copies as halo Reach or Combat evolve did. It outsold Halo 2 by a little over 1 million copies sold. The only halo that has beat 4 in sales is halo 3.

So by using sales numbers the halos are best to wost: Halo 3, Halo4, Halo 2, Halo CE,Halo reach. And halo 4 is “twice as good” as either Halo C.E or Reach.

Now if I made a post on these forums claiming that halo 4 is twice the halo game that Reach or C.E was how do you think that would go over?

Like it or not OP has a point.

There are more Xbox Ones out there now than there were 360s out there when Halo 3 released. Just because the PS4 is doing so well doesn’t mean the Xbox One is doing poorly.

So your reason is false.

That said, Halo 5 is doing fine and is constantly in the top 10 most played XBL games.
