Halo 5 sales similar to previous games?

I don’t think so personally. Halo 4 sold over 9 million but there were over 80 million 360s on the market. There won’t even be 20 million Xbox ones on the market when halo 5 launches and I think some things have hurt the brand. I’m guessing less than 4 million total, which is still great, but I think MCC and halo 4’s multiplayer will take its toll on the opinion of the brand, which it shouldn’t. Not to mention there are some hugely popular games coming out around the same time. Either way I’m there day 1.

How many 360s was there when halo 3 released? I’m not expecting halo 3 or 4 numbers but a healthy 5-6 million.

Most likely around the same as Halo 4.

Well expect Xbox one sales to climb. October- November is when people start buying next gen consolse because of new game release. Like Star Wars Battlefront, Halo 5, etc. I am thinking 7-10 million copies sold easy ,maybe even more after Christmas.

There were about 12-13 million Xbox 360s sold when Halo 3 was released. According to VGChartz (yeah, I know it’s probably inaccurate but there aren’t really any solid numbers that I could find) there are a total of 13.9 million Xbox Ones sold so far. So it’s entirely possible for Halo 5 to get the same numbers as Halo 3. Will it? I doubt it, but the potential still exists in terms of possible consumers.

You do realize there are 4x more 360s on the market when halo 4 was released compared to xbox ones now?

By that logic when halo 4 was released only about 15% of the xbox community bought halo 4, now suddenly the xbox community will equal nearly 50% somehow on xbox one with halo 5? 20million xbox ones= 9 million sold? That’s insane.

To many, halo 3 was considered an anomaly in terms of sales, the series started to wind down after that despite many more 360s being on the market. I’m not sure what happened. halo4 is a more accurate picture of where the community is now compared to 2007. Now did ALL of those 9 million users from halo 4 360 come over? I doubt it seriously.

Who knows? It might gain a lot of sales if it catches a lot of new players. Halo 3 sold a lot because of it’s large growing fanbase and reputation. Halo’s reputation and fanbase has declined, but there’s no doubt there’ll be a lot of new players on the scene. I guess we’ll find out!

Dang, if it only sells 5-6 million, that’s not healthy. That would be a big step down from the main games.

It’s huge for a system with only 15-20m install base.

Same with the 360 in 2007, and Halo 3 sold around 15 million units.

We cant tell. Id still put it at 9 million. Halo 4 level sales, from Halo 3 like success.

Recently someone pointed out the MCC has sold 5 million copies. Thats pretty good, much better than VGChartz estimates it at.

Thats lifetime sales.

Are ae wondering how many sales it will get total? Or sales over a time period? After Christmas? 1 year of sales? That kind of thing needs to be settled

Oh, yeah. That’s what I thought we were talking about: Lifetime sales. If Halo 5 only gets 5-6 million sales in its lifetime, that’d be huge step down.

Lifetime i have no doubt itll get to at least 10 million sales. But i do think the OP is speaking more about now rather than over the whole lifetime of the game.

Doesn’t matter, if someone is a halo fan they’re already going to have an Xbox One.

Of course sales of this game at launch are going to be limited by the Xbox ones current installed base… I doubt it will do Halo3 launch numbers because the Brand isn’t as strong now as it was then.

lifetime sales of this game will depend on whether or not it has legs… My hunch is that the focus on E-sports, and the addictive nature the RNG system, the free map packs, and a solid campaign will see that this game sells well for a period longer than its launch window…

It it very well may reach halo3 sales, eventually, if the game drives Xbox a sales, and is of high quality… I think both cases will ring true…

That’s not true at all… Many people are waiting to buy the system specifically for this game… Who do you think is going to be buying the Halo5 bundle? People who aren’t halo fans?

but I do agree with you, halo5 will probably have a higher attach rate tha halo4…

When halo4 released, there were a ton of more casual 360 owners… The folks who own a xb1 at this time are the more hardcore, and are more likely to be into FPSs.

I’m going to guess more than 5 million.

Well judging by the online population numbers of halo 4 I think that’s dropped considerably since the really popular halo games.
