Halo 5 sales chart

Less than 1m.

Nah NPD released numbers

It was the best selling game in October against 2K16which sold 4 million copies

So Halo had sold over 4 million

Tht chart is so false lol, it sold more than games tht have millions sold

I’d believe these numbers. It doesn’t include digital sales which is usually 20-30% of total sales. This means halo 5 sold roughly 1.5 million at most.

Halo 5 is mediocre in terms of sales and gameplay.

Guys you do know that the numbers you are saying, 4 million, is false right ? NBA2K16 released in sept not oct it was in its 2nd month and only the sales month of oct is counted. Which of these games from october sold millions ? I bet not 1.

looks like some guy made this in excel because he was pissed off lol

“Mediocre in terms of sales and gameplay…”

Do you mean just the campaign or both campaign and multiplayer?

this is just one guys opinion but I believe h5 has the best multiplayer experience out of all games in the franchise

Hey man it sold allll its copies on launch day c’mon now. Halo 5 sucks LOOK SEE THERE IS A CHART!!!ONE!!!

Continuing on with that logic, the lifetime sales of Halo 5 are limited to the 4 days it was actually out in October? NPD doesnt include digital sales, compared Halo 5 to a yearly sports series with a high sell rate, and it still came out on top. The Xbox One also sold the most in October, hasnt done that in a while. Halo 5 is a success. Dont like that? Leave

Well, that depends on the perspective… 1 or 2 million US first week is very good for any lambda game. But for the Halo series, the biggest Xbox One exclusive IP, the flagship of Xbox One, well… it is a disappointing launch. I’m sad about that but that’s the reality.

Its more than 1 or 2 million. The numbers reported by the NPD are only for physical game sales sold in the United States only. Even then, the number of physical games sold in stores is higher than NBA2K, which only came out the last day of September. It had a whole month to sell more than Halo 5, on multiple platforms.

Now include the rise in digital game sales, and how convenient it is for most people in the United States, who have access to good internet. Now include the fact that there are other countries where Halo 5 will sell extremely well, such as the UK, Australia, even Canada. Halo 5 is hugely successful. Thats a fact. It easily matched the totals set by previous games, and that is something an important fact to consider. Sure, sales dont matter so much as population retention. But no doubt, Halo 5 continues selling well into the holiday season.

I wish it easily matched the totals set by previous games but it sadly didn’t. For example, UK, which is the 2nd most popular market for Halo, have seen sales decline by more than twice for first week, you know that, right ? Even worst that ODST.

Those numbers have no ground. They’re from a self-proclaimed know it all insider on Neogaf. Totally unconfirmed.

Do the maths, Halo earned 400 million in revenue first week (confirmed and reported by Microsoft) from hardware and software. 300k xboxes sold at 500 dollars (that’s a generous number, it’s definitely lower) is 150m, microtransanctions only earned over 500,000 dollars in revenue, an insignificant figure that I’m not gonna account for considering its 1/800 of total revenue. If they sold 200k Halo controllers (again incredibly generous,) at 60 dollars each that’s 12 mil, 50k 100 dollar headsets would drum up a further 5 mil.

So consoles sold = 150m
Controllers and headsets = 17m (let’s call it 20m)
Microtransanctions = 0.5m
That leaves 230m for the game. Even with legendary editions we are looking at 2.5m-3m sold realistically. The only way I could be wrong is if MS are describing what they’ve sold to retailers and not consumers, meaning there’s a ton of surplus stock on shelves.

Should also mention that figure you posted doesn’t account for digital sales, H5 had a giant digital push (had its own tab on the dash) and is apparently the biggest digital launch on Xbox One. Even with your figures it’s 1.3m minimum.

You are aware that Destiny sold the same amount of copies, in the UK, on the X1, right? The UK is not the greatest place for shooter fans, but in any case, it was simply just to point out that, globally, Halo 5 as sold well. Certainly more than well enough to warrant a Halo 6, and more than well enough to show the franchise isnt as dead as people think it is. To put this into perspective, Halo 3 sold 250 copies in the UK at launch. I think its clear those Brits wait for holiday sales to pick up big name games

To compare, Halo 3 sold 3.3 million copies in its first 12 days of sale (US). Those stats include the console bundles and such. If you were to compare franchise fatigue, popularity of the game, and competing franchises, I’d say Halo 5 is a return to form for what Halo needs to be to get back on track. Its not the most perfect launch in history. But Halo isnt going to usurp CoD overnight. Hell, it may never usurp CoD. But Halo 5 proves that Halo has room to grow back into a large shooter
