Halo 5 Review Scores

I’ve seen 9/10 on Polygon and Team Beyond have it an 8/10

Anyone seeing anything better or lower?

Destructoid gave the game a 7

The game is receiving very mixed reviews
I think its got a metacritic score of 87
Just need to play the game and make up our own minds

Gamereactor 10/10  I always read and agree with Gamereactor, they started in my little hometown when I was a kid and are now international and the biggest games magazine in Europe. They gave Halo 1, 2, 3 and Reach a 10/10 and only Halo 4 a 9/10.

Ok im a long term halo fan, i completed the game early.
I will say that the reviews are interesting. Why because alot of comments are all over the place. It seems as they peoples opinions are very spllit with differnt things. and i berlive this comes down to the franchise being quite old now and people love it for lots of differnt reasons. Halo 5 really changes gameplay up from previous halos, for me personaly i berlive it needed it after all these years, but for those who dont like these things then thats going to be a negative.
The one thing that suprises me the most, and it kinda saddens me abit is some reviews complaints on the story and how its poor. To me this was quite a surprise because i felt the story was its strength, it has a very interesting story, and its blatentny has a feel of being the first of a trilogy type of thing setting up things for the next few games. But then im somone who has read every book, every comic in the halo collection and there sure are alot of nods to fans that people who havnt read all or any of the halo media , its going to go straight over there head as meaningless diolog.
The main story , without saying any spoilers is very much enriched if you know whats going on in the halo timeline and history , but if you dont i guess i can see why some may just dismiss it as they dont really get why things are happening, they cannot see the grand plan of the story. For example i read one review where he said it was a negative being with a team like blue team because they jsut felt like strangers… one part of me finds that very very anoying knowing blue team as well as i do from the novels, yet another part of me understands why hes making those comments.
End of the day, i think halo has come along over the years, where its at the point now where the narative of the story is going to be quite off putting and a confusing mess to those who dont follow halo law strongly, or dont at least do soms halo wiki resrech before hand. Its like getting somone to watch star trek tv series starting from session 7 of next generation and exspecting them to enjoy it as much as somone who started from the very begining.
And thats what i feel is the erason why we are getting so much conflicting reviews.
Over all i will say as halo moves on , the story side of things is made for fans and it pushes aside anyone who is casual to the series. I for one loved halo 5s campagin and it has left me with many questions as to where we will go next in halo 6.

The reviews being mixed is true. I however want a sucessful launch week. But I think we all want halo 5 to be a success

From what I’ve seen most of the reviews are between 8 /10 and 9/10. Most reviews said the multiplayer is excellent. The controversy seems to be with the campaign. Some love it and some find it lacking.

Team beyond 8/10 probably because no br starts

It’s actually because of lack of Chief missions if you read it. It is a very good 8 is you actually read the review the author is just a bit disappointed in lack of Chief missions.

From what I’ve read it’s more an “I want characters with depth all the time even though a lot of people are like these characters” issue. they act like the soldier type is unrealistic when in fact it’s very realistic, but it is unexpected considering back stories, I’ve met several people who are very by the books and not just in the military. it usually comes with OCD and no I’m not being an -Yoink- I’m just saying it because the vast majority of the people I’ve met that were by the books were also OCD. And some people just have it driven into their heads until it’s fixed there.

to be fair, I’m not sure how anyone can give this game a score before the servers are up. Also metacritic is a terrible way to judge a game. They grab everyone review possible doesn’t matter if it is some joe blow’s crappy website running out of his moms basement or a major outlet.

It was only a joke about the heavy competitive community beyond has aha, I don’t reviews. My opinions are the only ones I follow!

I would like to add, so that everyone understands, that reviews in general are actually devilish! Pick any movie, book or game that’s almost unanimously viewed as a masterpiece and you will still find some professional critics giving it a 2/10 or 4/10 etc. Pick any media and reviews will be found at all scores. This is because of the simple fact that professional critics are still humans and with that comes bias, bad/good days, subjectivity and a slew of other factors that impact a critics review score whether they’re aware of it or not. That is a fact of life. The best thing to do is to either find a critic that you personally seem to agree with (I have Roger Ebert for movies) or not listen to any critic at all, whatsoever.

There are some things that can be judge with common sense and not by emotional responses or other subjective factors.
I enjoy good quality story and characters and I have experienced a sub-par delivery in a recent game I’ve played where no person in their right mind could honestly defend it. Bad writing is bad writing. As far as gameplay, it depends more on the players’ style and likes.
