Halo 5 Requisitions - Persistent "Retrieving Data"

In Halo 5: Guardians, upon opening the requisitions store or any screen associated with requisitions, I get a message “Retrieving Data” and a loading icon. When at a req station in a warzone match, the same message and screen appears and I cannot use req levels in game, although they still accumulate. At the top of the respawn screen, the banner that usually says “Press Y to access reqs” instead says “Retrieving Data” and pressing Y does nothing.

Before the start of a match in the “searching for spartans” step, all other players’ icons are the default red emblem, and I see 0 req points and no boosts available.

At the end of a match, during the 40 second intermission, I get another “Retrieving Data” message, and no controller inputs do anything except the Home button until the end of the countdown, where it says “we encountered a problem and could not retrieve your session data at this time.”

This happens to me about 75% of the time I load up Halo 5. the other 25% of the time the game works fine. When the req system works for me, it always seems to last the entire match, and it usually lasts several matches before it breaks again. Restarting Halo 5 does not fix the issue, nor does restarting the entire xbox, even after unplugging it for 2 minutes. Sometimes it just starts working after restarting and coming back to the game a few hours later. I have never seen it start working again without a restart.

I still get rewarded RP for every match, even when reqs are broken. I just can’t see or access my req points until the next time the game loads them correctly. I’m not sure whether XP rewards are queued up like this or not.

I have seen people post that this was happening to everyone in a match. This was not the case; others in the match were using reqs. I think that was an early fix after release.

the req service seems to be the only problem I’m encountering. I don’t have lag, voice chat is smooth, etc. The only other effect I could see is that the Message of the Day sometimes fails to load, or loads the text but not the pictures. This seems to correspond to when my req store is down, but it’s not consistent.

I just got off of a conversation with xbox support, and they assured me that nothing was wrong with my console or my network (Comcast, 25M down, 5 up). They said the only option they saw left was that the issue was coming from the game itself, and then they directed me here. I hope someone here knows what’s going on, and that we can find a fix for this bug.

Well, the same thing is happening to me, but it’s actually more rare, like 25% of the time I have the same thing as you… And I actually don’t have any idea how to fix it… Hope they’ll do something about it REALLY FAST…

Calm yourself man, Hopefully they fix it and all will be well, I get this problem a few times every other day but Usually a re-start of the build fixes it.

It’s been constant for me. Need a fix for it fast.

I’ve been having the same issue since they released that stupid arena req bundle. I was tolerating that issue, I thought “hey at least I can still play”, but now I can’t even download the new update that came out so I can’t play at all.

This is supper frustrating, this is an issue that should’ve been resolved a week ago when that stupid arena req pack came out, because it seems pretty obvious to me that that’s what made the game wig out in the first place.

I was getting this issue before the arena req bundle came out.

Some more details I forgot to mention:

If my req system breaks right as I’m buying a pack (which seems to be pretty often), I get stuck on the “Processing” screen with all button inputs disabled except Home. The only way I can get out of it is to close and reload Halo 5 (the reqs will still be broken).

Also, I opened all ports on my router associated with xbox live (the list from here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live). All of these ports opened with no problems except for port 3074, to whic hI got a message, “Conflict with other HS Port Forwarding service. Please check port and IP!”

I even tried unplugging every other device from my network. The problem still persisted even when the Xbox was the only device on the network.

The problem started before opening the ports; that was one of my attempted fixes.

Restarting doesn’t seem to help at all; it just has a random chance of working again if I wait an hour or two and try again.

I hope an admin sees this soon, i have a feeling we’re gonna be waiting for the next patch… Don’t lose hope.

I’ve been having this issue for weeks. It’s getting worse, and has me really, really frustrated. I love this game! I just want to play it! I’m having the same issues as te original poster, and it’s definitely not my connection.

I think we need to hear something from 343 on this. I’ve had a malfunctioning game for weeks now, and haven’t seen or heard anything official in any of the many threads on the topic. Does anyone have anything that’s any help here? Everything I read says “restart the game”, which isn’t effective.

I’m constantly on retrieving data screens as well. The sometimes when they work, after the first game it will go back to retrieving data and not work for a while. Started happening to me around two weeks ago and I have to shut off or hard reset my XBOX 2-4 times before I can play Warzone.

I’ve now tried absolutely everything I can think of - including completely uninstalling and reinstalling halo 5 - and still have this bug almost all of the time. I essentially can’t play warzone, can’t use forge, can play arena but can’t use boosts, it’s really frustrating.

If this wasn’t such a great game I this wouldn’t bother me so much but halo 5 is so much fun when it works! I really just want some kind of indication that this is being worked on - or even just what the problem is (corrupted data server-side? Connection configuration issue? What?), as the silence makes it that much more frustrating.

I have had to same issue all week no req or boosts available and constantly loading but other people are using reqs so confused

I’ve been getting this every other match since launch, really infuriating and unbalanced when everyone else seems to be able to access their fancy toys while your stuck with your pee shooters. Whenever I see an update I keep getting my hopes up that this war zone breaking bug will be squashed but almost half a year later and still nothing.

Yeah I’m just trying to figure out the best course of action now that I can’t play warzone or anything. Do we just keep checking every few days and hope? Do we need wait all the way until the March update and hope it’s addressed? I’ve never really dealt with a company that just didn’t have customer service so I really have no clue what’s going on. I bought a game. The game doesn’t work. But I’m not allowed any refund? All of this is weird to me lol.
I get that you save money by being cheap and not paying people to work customer service, but aren’t you just losing that money when people quit because they can’t get a fix? How the hell can I pay for two games from the same company that have been broken and they don’t even attempt to help. Blah.

Same issue for me as well. Every time I try to go into the req menus, I get that constant “retrieving data” message. One time I got lucky and had a req pack appear which I immediately tried to open, but then got stuck in that screen that’s just before a pack opens. I had to go home and quit halo just to get out of it since there weren’t any options to cancel out the “open req pack” screen.

This problem literally continues EVERY TIME I try to play halo 5. I wish I was part of the ppl who had it happen here and there rather than what’s happening now. I even get issues when I try to start the game… I’m sometimes greeted with a “error syncing your profile” message, and my settings are reverted back to default. I can quickly change my armor color, settings etc, but not having access to the req packs (especially when MS/343i push these insanely priced packs to ppl willing to spend the money) is just out right unfair/wrong.

This is clearly a problem on 343i’s end and they need to drop a patch/hotfix to fix this game ruining problem. If this is going to be a reoccurring issue, they need to make it so that once we have opened req items, they save separately so we at least have access to things we’ve unlocked. I have weapon skins I downloaded that should be available at all times, but since they’re given out in-game via req packs and the req system is broken, I can’t even access/view my dlc. Tying content to a broken system that goes down is such a backwards idea. I don’t know who thought “if the req system is unavailable, let’s make all their unlocked content or separate DLC unavailable too.” Such a bone-headed idea with no after thought put into separating unlocked content/DLC from new/unopened packs.

Very annoying that this continues for quite some time for some ppl while others only experience it randomly. FIX THIS BUG 343!!!

Before, I had this issue only very rarely, but now it seems that I cannot access the REQ system at all, I cannot apply boosts, and I cannot access post game statistics in between matches. I’ve done a true system shut down on my One, quit out of Halo 5 dozens of times via accessing home start on Halo 5 and quitting, I’ve reset my router, I’m at a loss for what to do next. Extremely frustrating as the game was working just fine a couple days ago. Hopefully some sort of response and resolution to this issue will be posted soon. If anybody has any information or tips please let me know.

there is an issue with Xbox live services, it even mentions ‘are you having issues with halo 5: guardians multiplayer’ on the Xbox live status, its not halo that’s having a problem its Xbox live.

I’m about to test Halo 5 again, hopefully this was the cause the Xbox live service status website says everything is good now. I’ll post my results.
