Halo 5 REQ not excited but excited simultaneously

There are many Halo 5 features that sound exciting like war zone, breakout, blue team, and the new Spartan capabilities. But the one feature that just bothers me is REQ. I never was into trading cards. When I buy a game I don’t want to have to try to randomly win a playing card. Why can’t everything be open or unlocked by skill? I don’t know. It seems like it would be frustrating.

But I don’t want to write that feature off yet. I might try it and like it a lot. It might turn out to be fun and addictive. Like the title of the post says I’m kind of excited about it. The other reason is that it could, if implemented to be only given out to people that finish a match receive REQ packs, make people quit less during a match. Imagine people that are on a losing team being incentivized to finish a match by being rewarded with REQ packs. They might not quit so much. If so that could be one of the greatest things ever added to a Halo game.

I feel the same exact way, don’t worry man. It’s all up in the air right now. It SOUNDS appealing, but the truth is we won’t know until we try it.

The more skilled you are, the faster you will earn REQ packs. So in a sense it does. It’s a point based currency.

I love this idea, I really hope this is in the game. It only makes sense. Of course you’ll always get the cry babies that whine when they “lose their connection.” I love it though. hope this is the case.

Maybe not REQ Packs, but REQ Points? That’ll just give some people an excuse to lose to get Packs, right?

Yea but the not so much might get killed repeatedly by power weapons and better vehicles. This is where balance might skew and have better players remain better whereas weaker players wouldnt be able to able to catch up as fast. Of course only impacts Warzone but may become a problem during the course of the match.

I’m pretty sure he is referring to the points. Quitters/AFKers get no points, losers get some points, winners get more points. Seems logical to me.

In warzone matchmaking, people are put in matches with others that have similar decks of cards. So they are trying to avoid situations where people with no cards play against people with power weapons and vehicles to choose from.

Anyways, I usually play btb with just a DMR, and if vehicles come into play, a plasma pistol should be good for some hijacking action

343 seem to be pretty happy with the way they balanced it, but random rewards is a little scetchy

I guess I need to read or watch more but where does it say teams are matched by what cards player’s have?

It’s literally the exact same system as plants vs zombies garden warfare (not actually identical, just very, very similar) and that was one of the most fun and addicting systems I’ve ever seen in a video game. I could not be happier with 343 right now.

oh ok. yeah that does sound pretty logical. i only hope that really is the case

343 ruined arena by allowing cosmetic and BOOSTS rea packs

Boosts only apply to XP and REQ point earnings at the END of the match. They have no effect on gameplay within the match in any way.

Hope this clarifies things for you.

Presumably, if you are a skillful player, you’ll be getting a lot of Req points, and will be unlocking items at a faster clip than unskilled players…

Since the permanent cards you get in each pack are based on what you haven’t already obtained, it really is akin to a normal progression scheme…

You can’t just spam power weapons and vehicles though… Even if someone has a ton of powerful cards, the energy cost and Req level requirement guartuntees that they can’t over use these items…

means the matchmaking takes into account everyone’s req cards

Seems like a fun thing for Warzone. That mode will already be pure chaos.
