People don’t ‘believe’ this because they think about it… and it doesn’t make much sense.
Even all those people who pre-ordered, not all of them will have it paid off, and many of them might not have the money on hand. So what would that mean? A bunch of people who don’t have the money to pay for the game. Let’s not forget the development time taken away… So many reasons why this doesn’t make much sense.

Nope it doesn’t. Not at all.
They would kill of their own sales by doing so, because the marketing campaign hasn’t started yet for the non Halo fans (TV Spots and such stuff) and it would mean a shorter time to work on it and so on and so forth… So many reasons to not do it.
A game with hype builded up around it sells better than a one that goes like “hey it’s out”

At this point, I would much prefer if they said, “Hey, it’s out.” because I don’t know how they are going to bring the “non-halo” fans in when there are less features than the last iterations.
It makes no sense… Economically speaking this is one of the worst times to be releasing a game.
