Halo 5 Release Date on August 11th!? (Confirmed?)

EDIT:

I tweeted Josh Holmes, and he practically confirms the release date!

ORIGINAL:
So you’ve probably heard about how the new Halo 5: Guardians Art Book will be released on August 11th. This will detail vehicles, characters new and old, and worlds. It would contain a lot of spoilers for 400+ concept artworks. Halo 4’s art book was released the same week as Halo 4 to avoid spoilers. And then there’s this:
Halo 2 released on a Tuesday.
Halo 3 released on a Tuesday.
Halo 4 released on a Tuesday.
Can you guess what day August 11th is? That’s right. A Tuesday.

Coincidence? I’m not so sure. Halo 5 and its art book may both be released on August 11th, 2015. This would make sense since 343i is so much bigger than they were with Halo 4, and they had the Beta which fixed a lot of problems. What do you think?

I honestly hope they take some more time with Halo 5 so that the community’s feedback can be implemented in time. But I’m still very eager to play.

Josh said in his post when giving us the details of the changes after the beta that the game is nearly a year away. They said shortly before the beta released that putting out a beta early on is a good idea. I believe that the game is coming out in November. I think the artbook is going to be landscape, characters we already know are in, ship design and weapons. Not any location/character/plot spoilers.

They said that the book contains characters that we don’t know of and places we will go. It will probably have spoilers.

If it doesn’t hurt the overall quality of the game (and please don’t be like Activision and -Yoinking!- remove content), then I’m all for playing this summer.

A date being on a Tuesday does not make it the final release date of the game.

Remembers the alleged November 10 countdown that ended up just being a random number displayed on an LED sign.

Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox division, stated a few months back that the Xbox One game line-up for 2015 was very packed and that some games would inevitably have to be moved to 2016. What if Halo 5 is releasing earlier than expected (August) so that other games like Scalebound and Quantum Break could benefit from the Holiday rush? Halo will sell amazingly no matter what time of year it releases.

I doubt it. After MCC, Halo 5 is one of microsofts big big cards, so rushing it will completely destroy 343i reputation, which has already suffered due to the pathetic MCC launch and persisting bugs, but it’ll also plague halo as a franchise. I honestly rather they move Halo 5 to 2016 than ruin it by a rushed launch.

not a chance

it won’t be ready by that time, and when it is “ready”, they’re not gonna fark it up and release it like they did with MCC… think serious testing this time

december 2015. that is all /thread

A release time which would avoid conflicting with COD in the autumn which would probably be a good thing for Halo.

But, the LAST thing I want to hear is that H5 is being rushed to get it out for this summer.

I think they will delay H5 to spring 2016.

Did everyone forget that Halo 5 was delayed from 2014 holidays to 2015? Saying it would be rushed in order to get out in time makes no sense - it’s the middle of Feb. right now. 6 months is plenty of time for mp balancing.

While it’s not likely that the date is confirmed (Amazon jumps the gun on release dates all the time), spoiler material for games tend to release at launch. Why would they release an art book 3 months ahead of a game? Hype is one thing, but that is another.

We don’t have a clue how far campaign stuff has come along, but we all have an insight into the mp dev process (a la The Sprint). There’s plenty of stuff we have yet to see that has been going on. If 6 months isn’t adequate time, think about how little would’ve gotten done in 2 years prior.

Umm… no it wasn’t. Never has Halo 5 been meant to release in 2014.

If you’re referring to the Halo on Xbox One Teaser a long time ago, that was just a general trailer showing that Halo is coming to Xbox One. Not a specific game.
And what showed up on Xbox One in 2014? The MCC.

Just wait until E3, we’ll get a definite release date then.

release an AAA title in early august is not wise, but I think that Halo 5 could make it’s way to retailers already in september, probably on the 15th-22nd of the month.

hopefully. that would be a great day to release. right before work starts so i can play the hell out of it.

Lol I have just seen HaloFollower video and run to the Forum.
I really would like to see Halo 5 on August 11, but release an AAA game on August and not November? Doubt it. This is why I think Halo 5 will release on November

“Fall” almost always refers to September. Not August, not November—definitely not December—but September.

I can say with 80% certainty that the release date will not be August 11.

Just a simple search reveals this to be the case (can’t link on my phone). “HALO on Xbox One” was the working title for 5, and was independent of MCC/H2A. The release was postponed early last yar, although a hard release date was never mentioned, 2014 was tied to anything prior to announcing Guardians.

Despite that, it does not change the climate at this point. “Fall 2015” is less ambiguous, but it would be smart for them to hit the ground well before the holiday rush. After last year with MCC, many players will be weary to pickup a Halo title without proving a working state. Losing out on holiday sales would be worse than releasing prior to that (and to competition as well). August may seem early, but November would be a little for trying to regain faith before Christmas. Plus, if it plays well, they will have more time to pull players in before other releases, vesting them in (similar to how Destiny still had players amidst the fall competition, even with a lackluster critical reception).

NEW EVIDENCE!
I tweeted Josh Holmes, and he basically confirmed Halo 5’s release!

Interesting. That is pretty tongue-in-cheek. Unless he goes off and responds along the lines of “wait to get the book until after the game”, which would just be silly for marketing.
