in halo 5 i would like the return of army ranks or some other type of badge like in halo reach were you got legend and supernova.being ranked in a number like in halo 4 is very boring to me.it isn’t very threatening when i go in a game and i see a high number level compared to a 5 star general or a inheritor which both sound threatening.
i really liked the different names of the ranks in halo reach and i would like to see more creative names for ranks that makes me seem threatening to other people in the lobby.
numbers are very boring and are the ranks for nearly every first person shooter.
it sounds like i am complaining on something that is very stupid and doesn’t impact the game that much its just that i miss the old ranks.
Master of unicorns and the yoinkinator should be added as ranks as well. They need to add some joke ranks as well
But yeah I’d love for military and halo themed ranks to return

No for Halo Reach ranks for me.
We need to go back to a Halo 2/3 style ranking system.
Personally, I think Halo 3’s EXP system coupled with the Halo 2 1-50 would be awesome. You can unlock your helmets and stuff with overall EXP, but you should have separate 1-50 ranks in all ranked playlists. Your highest number rank should stay with you in custom game lobbies and such.
This would not only give people rewards for playing a lot, but also make it so the best players who have worked so hard to get their number rank up are recognised and proud to enter lobbies.
Halo 2’s ranking system was awesome. I think Halo 3’s was a little too easy. There were too many 50’s running around who got it too easy. In Halo 2, I’d say only about 1% of players were in the 40’s in team games. You really needed to work as a team, and it was recommended that you found people to party up with.
On Halo 3 is was still hard, but not quite challenging enough. I think I felt more pride in getting to a 37 on Halo 2 than a 50 on Halo 3.
If you don’t go back to something like this, then you’ll continue to see Halo dying. It needs to go back to old style Halo ranks. There’s innovation and taking the game forward, but then there’s just turning it into a completely different game.

im not talking about the ranking system im only talking about the rank names themselves.
With Dedicated servers being used, I think the Halo 2 system would be great to use, because the dedicated servers will eliminate a lot of the Host Booting, DDoS, Host Bridging, Modders and such that plagued the Halo 2 ranking system.

They could still name the ranks such as
Noob 1-5
Recruit 6-10
Marine 11-20
ODST 21-30
Spartan 31-40
Hero 41-45
Reclaimer 46-49
Inheritor 50
And halo 3 had an xp system alongside 1-50 which many seem to forget which shows that both ranking systems can coexist.

my prefered would be
marine 1-9
odst 10-19
spartan 20-29
hero 30-34
reclaimer 35-39
inheritor 40-44
forerunner 45-50
I suggest a 1-50 or other concrete number for the competitive purists out there. They won’t stop until they get it, and it was obviously very popular.
Where Reach excelled was with ranks like Inheritor or Commendations like Onyx. They stood for something (in this case, commitment to the game or the commendation). You earned those. In Halo 4, you reach SR130 in a matter of months, and earn Whatever-Master with 1,000 kills of a certain type. In reach you maxed out Onyx at 10,000!
Bring 'em both back… leave the competitive to a single rank, and let the XP accumulate with all kinds of cool names, badges, etc. It’ll be fun for the social and fun for the competitive as well.

Just no PP commendations still have to do that in halo 4
> Just no PP commendations still have to do that in halo 4
Oh lord you’re totally right. The individual weapon/vehicle commendations were significantly flawed. Look no further than PP, Mongoose, Perfection, etc. Reach did it right - broad categories such as Autos, Scoped rifles, sidearms, heavy weapons, etc.
And while we’re at it, better armory tie-ins are a must. Perfection Master nets me… forearms? Really? Reach did it right again - the highest possible rank (Inheritor) nets you the rarest armor. In my case I went back to Reach just recently to finish the last 100k credits and earn that helmet.
1-50 ranked, a separate social system (like 3) and a experience like Reach for unlocking stuff.

I agree, I would like to see military ranks return and more of em. I don’t like the halo 4 ranks and the emblems for some halo reach ranks corporal lt. colonel commander, but i liked the ranks themselves.
or if you were an elite
grunt 1-9
jackyll 10-19
brute 20-29
hunter 30-34
honour guard 35-39
chieftain 40-44
arbiter 45-49
prophet 50
i now relise i didnt make a 50 for my previous one so i would stick legend in between hero and reclaimer
