How do yall feel about the Halo 5 ranks being team based? I personally dont like it, intend to play by myself with random people. So I hate that my rank depends on who Match making pairs with me. Still looking forward to Halo 5 though
Team games are ranked by Team. Makes sense to me.
Hopefully there will be individual ranking for FFA and similar gametypes.

Chances are they will have individual ranks for that, as you are technically your own team.

I canât disagree with that logic lol

I guess thats true, Looks like iâll just have to get over it. Or try to make friends lol xD
I may be wrong but im pretty sure it is team based ranking, but say you loose a game and you carried your team you will be less negatively affected than your team mates or even marginally positively affected. But if you win a game and your afking the whole time, or go really negative then you will be less positively affected or even slightly negatively affected. So its based on win/loss but also on your individual performance.
Thats how i understand it anyway

I hope thats what it is, I just recently got back on MCC and have been playing Halo 3 mostly. So far this is my only pet peeve. (H5 better have improved spawning compared to H3)

I like that set up that way you canât just hide behind skilled players to win and I wonât suffer as much based on bad teammates if we lose. You get the point or lose the points you deserve.

Itâs pretty safe to say FFA wonât have team rankings.

You donât know that!
The 1-50 always worked pretty damn well. But of course, thatâs âoldâ, and therefore we can unreasonably deduce that the 1-50 is no longer practical or even good.

The 1-50 when implemented correctly is leagues better than Halo 5s League system. If the full fledged system is anything like the one ion the beta then I see very little replay vaule. Players were already ranked Pro in the beta. What more do they have to fight for? I had a 3kd and was stuck in bronze silver not knowing what else to do to rank up.
This ranking system will be about as boring as Halo Reachs arena system
Team ranks? Can someone fill me in on this?
All too late I learn the virtues of reading the -Yoinking!- thread.

I donât understand why they are still trying to reinvent the wheel with this stuff.
The 1-50 system works fine.
I just want it to represent your personal skill not the people you get paired with.
1-50 was flawed, not the front end, apart from a plateau of high skill and SO much variance in a 50, but the back-end. The Microsoft Trueskill algorithm definitely had a lot of holes, Iâm glad itâs not returning. Funnily enough a lot of the âhardcoreâ fans would probably be satisfied with a 1-50 front-end slapped on the current system for h5 and wouldnât realise the difference.
The bronze - silver - gold - onyx - semi-pro - pro system is much better, not only because thereâs no plateau and better skill-definition but because bettering yourself from silver to gold feels so much better than going from 20 to 28.
That aside - regarding the skill debate:
Itâs hard because if the algorithm favours individual skill too highly it leads to situations where people will try their very best to get kills and maintain a good K/D but as we know, this doesnât always equate to winning the game, even in slayer. You can easily go +10 and still lose. Thatâs why I think itâs good that itâs based primarily on win/loss as a team but I do think performance should factor in a little, because obviously even if the guy going +10 wasnât working well with his team, if they all went -7 they should probably be penalised a little more than he was for the loss. Thereâs also the situation of a four-player team where one person is a higher rank than the others on the team even though theyâre all winning or losing together, in some ways itâs better to keep anyone from being felt like theyâre being left behind. Maybe a âteam top gunâ rank or something as a nod to the best player on the team would be a cool addition. Team roles would also be an interesting addition. Similar to how roles are clearly defined in other games like League (although that game has one map and as such itâs easy to define roles into top, mid etc). What would the roles be? Left flank, right flank, power weapon, floater? hahah I think Halo may be too fluid.
Itâs also hard for the game to calculate your âperformanceâ in an objective game. The guy running around going +25 may have helped not at all but the guy who went -5 driving the flag carriers mongoose and pretty much facilitating the win (but not getting any caps himself) may have âperformedâ better in that mode.
Wait⌠Is SR still a thing, or is it all CSR now
I think individual skill ranking should play more of a factor than it did in halo mcc. Many times I would get stuck on a rank for weeks because Iâd get paired with people who didnât know how to play (letâs just keep rushing into the same place and die many many MANY TIMES) I believe that if youâre contributing positively to the objective at hand (going +3 in slayer, capturing flags, killing flag carriers, escorting flash carrier, ect) that your skill should reflect that. Not necessarily if your team wins or losses. Just a thought.

Halo 5 has a global xp-based leveling system like the one of Halo 4 and a competitive Skill Ranking for every ranked playlist.
