343 please bring back halo 3 ranking system it is way better I love it because you earn your rank not just play and earn xp to rank up I don’t like that halo 4 i became a 130 within a month or so and I couldnt go up which made it boring because I didn’t earn nothing but just play but in halo 3 after you got a x amount of xp you had to go to rank matchs if you wanted to go to the next rank which made it challenging and you earn your rank by beating the best that’s what halo is all about in the multiplayer trust me if you guys bring that back people with blow up in multiplayer like crazy trust me please give the true halo fans what they want 343
One of the reasons I stopped playing halo4s mp was because of the weird ranking. However I played halo3 nonstop and I would absolutely love to see halo3 ranking back.
If you’re talking about the win-based UNSC ranks from Halo 3, no thanks. Absolutely no thanks. I can’t speak for others, but that ranking drove me off the edge from frustration. There are, in fact, people who aren’t always looking for a competitive Halo experience. Please keep the skill-based ranking we have, but please do not replace the progressive system with Halo 3’s.
Also, sentences.
So people who lose more games then they win get ranked locked? No thanks! got stuck at 35 cause I lost to many games and could not rank up.
Halo 5s current ranking system is great. I don’t know much about halo 3s but I would hate it if 343 were to change it.
Halo 5’s competitive ranking system is the best way to do it, hands down. 1-50 was an awful system, not because of cheaters and booster, although that’s a part of it, but because it barely meant anything when it came to skill… a level 1 could play like a level 25, for example, and make matches lopsided. Hell, it happens in MCC as well.
As far as SOCIAL RANKS, or Progressive Ranking as some might call it, something like Reach would be better, in my opinion.
Halo 4 didn’t have ranks, that was just a progression system. Halo 5’s ranking is way better than 3’s as you get MMR and a rank for being top 200. Halo 3’s was way too short, hitting 50 on the second day of release was disappointing.

Why not h3’s or reach’s is way better and could be considered connected to the universe. Progressing to a boring spartan rank 130 is well just boring and nothing cool about that and its not cannon or part of the halo universe. palmer isn’t spartan rank 130 she is a commander no where have i seen a spartan rank other than johns S-117 which means he was the 117th child to be selected NOT HIS RANK IN THE SPARTAN PROGRAM OR military which he is a petty officer.

ok
Okay lets start with what 343 has been trying to do with mp 343 is trying to connect the mp to the universe of halo. I am wondering why would 343 use spartan progression system like in halo 4 which was boring and has no ties to cannon or the universe. Spartans have actual military ranks in the universe see Palmers rank it is not spartan rank 110 its an actual military rank, Commander, Chief is a Petty Officer see where i am going with this. 343 should either use part of the halo 3’s progression system where if you win a game you get a point that point goes towards you military progression rank now if you lose you dont get any points and if you quit or get booted then you should lose a point, also this system does not need to connect to your skill rank whatsoever. I think this system would help bring down the quitting in the game like people do so much right now in the MCC, It would make x2 points weekends awesome for special weekend playlists.
OR
They could use the Reach progression system which uses real military ranks too where you get points for playing the match no matter what and get a bonus for either winning or doing good yourself. Both of the systems I just listed off are more interesting and could be considered cannon & connected to the universe of halo spartan ranks are just boring imo.
also you could change up the point system from the halo 3 system for people who don’t like not getting anything from playing a match make it where a win = 2pts loss= 1pt quit/booted = -1pt
YOUR THOUGHTS?
P.S. not talking about skill rank that is something entirely different.
I happened to like the Halo 4 ranking system very much, and i hated how it worked in Halo 3. But that’s just me. Also, feel free to include some periods in your sentences (or in this case, sentence).
So you don’t actually know how the ranking system works then.

So you want a ranking system that literally does not show any skill? To me, it shows how much you play, that’s it. Reach ranking system was a horrible way to deduce someones skill. As long as you put the time, no matter how bad you are, you’ll EVENTUALLY reach max level. That’s how it should be?

I don’t think you really read my post correctly.
When did I say that? I was talking about social ranking/progression, the non-competitive ranking. I think Reach had the best one in my opinion. As for actual skill ranking, I like what Halo 5:G has right now, which is the tier-based ranking. A lot of competitive games use it and it works quite well, so I have no objections.
I was just simply saying that the 1-50 system was terrible and didn’t really represent anything.

that way the system would be better able to avoid matching ou against player you can beat/get beaten by without trying making all your matches fair. in my opinion it’s perfect. if you aren’t better than that then why should you be ranked higher?
progressive systems are fine for unlocking stuff but no use for matching equally skilled players for a balanced game. if you make them progress on how well you play all it will do is make better players progress faster, but eventually they will hit cap and the bad players will start to catch up. my problem with the h3 system was it got abused to high heavens, with derankers loosing games for you just so they could play against worse opponents knowing that their highest rank achieved is recorded and they technically never loose it and can just blame lagg for all the losses… not them running mid map and shooting the sky… or people picking up level 1-10 players and taking them into MM to significantly drop the groups average and trick the system into giving them an easy game.
while the h3 system was based on h2’s, i found h2’s to be the more accurate and less exploited… until you came across modders and stand-byers… reach and 4 had no shown skill based ranking and im pretty sure 4’s didn’t work (remember they claimed it was running behind the scenes) but that’s probably more to do with ordnance giving bad players un-earnt power weapons or noob combo’s+plasma nades at spawn (you know, because killing vehicles is hard…)
h5’s system should be focused not on individual skill, or team performance, but both. and more effort should be put into the MM system to keep teams and randoms from matching against each other, im sure we’d all rather wait for a good game than be rushed into a one sided killfest with an outcome so obvious there wasn’t a need for a match. about the individual and team based system, i think the top 3 or 4 best performing individuals should not be able to derank from a loss while being more likely to rank up from a win. this way if you do what i find myself doing a lot in MM when i join solo, and getting the best personal score in the game but loosing because your team couldn’t even kill themselves effectively let alone the enemy you won’t derank from the loss, you didnt deserve to but also if you do the same thing next game and win at the top of the lobby, you going up no questions. you then have a bad game, do worst in lobby but get carried to a win you still dont derank as you won, but you don’t go up because you done -Yoinked!- up but if you aren’t one of the top 3/4 players in the lobby and loose… you gonna derank. its an idea and im not about to go learn the math behind how skill is calculated to devise a more accurate or better solution

I like that idea in my opinion i want something that your earning something not just playing for the heck of it
inb4 hundreds of threads complaining about being rank locked
In all seriousness, I agree.
Not a fan of the “Everyone gets a trophy” idea… I like Halo 2, and Halo 3’s ranking system…
MCC tried, but failed. But its still a good system if they do it right.
if they bring a progression system into Halo 5, imo, it’ll die quickly (as Halo Reach and Halo 4 did for me)
