Does anybody know what the ranking system will be like in Halo 5. I think the ranking system in Halo 4 was a flop as I don’t like the way you can level up even if you lose the game.
I played a lot of Halo 3 and a good bit of Halo 2 and the ranking system was amazing. It made the game more competitive and there was a very high standard.
I am now playing Halo: Master Chief Collection and I am really enjoying the old ranking system and I think if they were to bring that to Halo 5 it would be a massive improvement from Halo 4.
Let me know what your thought’s are and let me know if you know what their plan is.

The current system will be a lot more like Halo 2-3, where your ability to win effects your ranking… They’ve also introduced LoL inspired a tier system, that places your in one of seven categories depending on you worldwide skill ranking…
there will also be an XP system in place that give you some sense of progression even if you don’t win. But it will have no effect on matchmaking… It essentially be for earning Req cards…
The competitive ranking system will be a league style like League of Legends or Starcraft 2. You do 10 placement matches and you get put into a player division. I don’t think they made any big design philosophy changes since beta, but here was the explanation from around that time.
And I believe the basic experience system that runs along side of it will be similar to 4 in that they are numbers. Which if true is a bit of a shame, was hoping for military ensignias or just some graphic. Would be a cooler than just a number.
You get placed into a league of sorts and then there are divisions in each league. Besides the last two I think, being “Semi-Pro” and “Pro” I think. A game similar to this is Starcraft 2. I can be wrong and will be more than glad to have someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think I’m for the most part on point. The reasoning behind not having something similar to Halo 2 rankings, which a lot of people liked, was that when you reached 50, there was still a huge skill gap between level 50 players. This is supposed to sort out all of that mess and really show who is the best. It was in an article recently, or a video interview I don’t remember. But it’s out there somewhere.
So Halo 5 will have a Division based ranking system (Example: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Onyx, Semi-Pro, Pro) (If you ever played CS:GO or League of Legends it’s very similar)
Each Division (ex: Gold) has subdivisions. Gold 1, Gold 2, Gold 3, etc. until you hit next level up. Then repeat subdivision ranking through that next level too.
The Pro (highest) rank only has 200 spots available (200 for the entire Halo 5 community). Players will have to play and keep gaining exp to stay in the pro division
This Divisional ranking system is much more structured then the 1-50 seen in H2-H3. The new CSR (competitive skill ranking) will create new skill gabs between players allowing for that growth we all love in competitive multiplayer games.

Yea there’s 10 placement matches and then you get put into a divison.
I’ve been told that the same developer who made the ranking system in Starcraft 2 also made it for Halo 5, though I think he may have left at this point for whatever reason.
Don’t forget that there is a global rank called spartan ranks. Works similar to Halo 4’s progression SR system, except now there is no specializations, it just goes on and on. According to the recent REQ information post put out by Josh Holmes and 343, the rank goes to AT LEAST 152, I suspect it probably goes to at least 200, but that’s not a fact, its just a nice number to look at.

He was probably involved with a short contract for Halo 5.
