It’s the same in terms of design: a progressive bar tracks your rank as you win and lose. Gain enough, and you go up if you win enough games. Lose and you go down.
If you are looking for numbers, you’ll have to get into the pro ranks to get that.

Yes, but only when you get into the Semi-Pro division and Pro division.
When you start going into Ranked playlists, the game will track how well you did in the first 10 games. After your first 10, it will place you into a division. The divisions are(from worst to first):
Bronze
Silver
Gold
Diamond
Onyx
Semi-Pro
Pro
The first 5 divisions will have 3 tiers each. Semi-Pro and Pro will have a numerical representation. Pro is reserved for the top 200 players in the world.

Those who think it shucks, could you articulate why beyond "I like numbers’. It seems to me that h5 builds on and improves the h2 system.
I really like it cause it doesn’t make you feel bad when not reaching a certain number or level of rank. It feels like being in a military rank and so just in a certain place.
Since i did play early beta Halo 5 i must say that it have best ranking system so far. It looks great and works great!
This is litterly the same as number. The only difference is that it is not with numbers but with words. And you can track when and how many xp you need for your next lvl.
I really like the new ranking system. I look forward to making a road to pro division series. It’s gonna be tough. I know I will make semipro no problem. But I do see a challenge in getting to pro.

And from playing the beta, it seems like your individual performance does have an effect on the rank as well, not just W/L. My friend and I both played our first games together and he started off bronze whereas I started off gold. We had the same W/L being on the same team every game.
Nice because now you can’t get by just by riding other peoples coattails and you won’t get punished as much when you go 20-1 and your team still loses!

You definitely don’t just go up. You loose and gain points depending on your performance and if you win or loose.
I like the new ranking system. But I don’t get how it initially ranks you. I played my first games with some buddies and we won 8 out of 10 of them. My KD was like 140 kills to 40 or 50 deaths. Better than the other players on my team. However the friend of mine with 80 kills and 100 deaths gets gold while I get shafted with bronze. I don’t get this. I outperformed him and we won the same number or games. I even had more assists than he did. This kind of pisses me off because there is no way worse players should be put higher up. Anyone else experiencing this?

Get to semi pro and you’ll see numbers. Get to pro and you’ll be competing for the top 200 in the world.
