Halo 5: Ranking System 8/9/15

Warzone: Ranking system should be based on just leveling up. (More time played, better rank)

Arena: Skill based as it was in Halo 2 (Win level up, lose level down)

Do you guys think this could work? It seems like Warzone is going to me more of a casual area where having fun with large amounts of friends and blowing stuff up are the main goals. I think the “Arena” should be more about players striving to win and rank up, thus having a skill based ranking system would encourage people to be competitive at all times. What would you guys like to see?

I think that’s the plan.

That’s pretty much what it’s going to be.

It’s essentially that, except Arena also has some ‘win/loss’ leveling.

I can’t wait to see the specifics of the WarZone leveling system. Oct 27th can’t come fast enough!

will Arena’s rank system be like how it was in the beta? if so, i kinda like that

They are no longer going to have a numerical ranking system in arena multiplayer.

Check it out:

I would like skill to ne considered when warzone matches… If one team has a 10, 15, and a 25 the other team should get the same… But i don’t know how such a large and likely disorganized game type can accurately rate skill. Win/loss is not going to work well amongst the chaos, and any other stat can be farmed.

So… I’m happy with time played.

That’s what’s going to happen lol. There’s a total Spartan Rank which is just playtime then there are tier rankings for arena tryharding

Warzone will presumably be the main focus for SR/ XP based levelling up; leveling up gets you Req packs.

Arena will have a skill-based division system for ranking as well.

Personally I do not like the ranking system by ability, I feel it depends on the team on which you play. I would like if it based on your Kill-Death Ratio.

That ranking system sounds pretty good

I agree. Although I would like there to be SOME sort of skill ranking in Warzone, I get why this is pretty much impossible. As long as they figure out a system in which most of the games are generally fair and even, I’ll be happy!

I wish it was more about personal performance rather than win/loss. Even if you had a great match it won’t matter if your team was bad. Unless they changed it since the beta or maybe I’m misunderstanding.

I wish there was a higher amount of revenge points and/or comeback points for you r spartan ranks

same with assassinations

For less competitive playlists, I like the Halo 3 model (without being tied to TrueSkill). Have a skilled component tied to your team performance relative to competition that raises the level you are, then a time component to add distinctions within those tiers.

For competitive lists, I liked Halo: Reach’s arena ratings. Have groupings for your skill level, assign numerical scores to performance that are used to calculate your grouping, then periodically reset your ranking and show your history as a badge of honor. The problem with the rating was that it wasn’t set to a fixed scale.

They should weigh your individual performance more than wins/losses in arena. The main reasoning behind the ranking system should be about getting put on teams and playing against teams of equivalent skill level. If the skill ranking is based on team performance then it’s basing your skill on how well your team does which has a much more random factor involved. Of course if you’re good you’ll help your team win, and since you’re playing team slayer that should carry weight, but as of now I just think it’s too much.

I am actually pretty excited about the system they plan to use for MP ranking. I was a big Halo 2 player and really enjoyed the ranking system. Since Halo 3 I have been hoping that the halo franchise and other shooters would find a better way to calculate a players skill in MP. I personally can remember the excitement and nervousness of Halo 2 when I knew my rank was about to drop. Or when I was about to reach that new highest level I have ever been. I think a good ranking system gives any game a much longer life span. Cause players like myself would feel motivate to come back after a bad night where I lost 3 ranks. Wanting to get them back. Or wanting to play more cause I was so close to reaching that next rank. Even Battlefield 2; Modern Combat had a kind of system. Not super accurate but it gave you something to strive for. I was on the fence about Halo 5 but I think I am going to give it a shot just because I love the thrill of MP and a ranking system based on skill. Not experience.

I see no reason why arena can’t have skill based ranking and progressions ranks.(like h3)
