Just out of Interest why are the ranked games matchmaking so unfair. EG me (SR 51) vs other people (SR 100).
SR isnt a skill ranking

SR doesn’t show skill, the arena rank does. It’s possible you’re playing on their level of skill, or vice versa.
I am almost 147. Doesn’t mean I am any good
Just means I have played forever lol
When MM games seem unfair it can be because of skill but in this case your opponents probably have spent more time in arena and know the mechanics, map layouts and weapons better than you do at this point.
Lvls don’t mean anything you should look at the csr placement gold platinum etc

147 isn’t even that much Lmao.
The rank doesn’t determine skill. That’s for dang sure!
Though the matchmaking system does need some tweaking.
Okay, so you have everyone telling you SR doesn’t have anything to do with skill, and that is true, but that’s not giving you any explanation why the matches seem so unfair. Part of that feeling is, I am guessing here, is you are just barely starting out with the ranked playlists, and you are more than likely playing against players that have been playing on the maps a lot longer than you have. It’s all a process, and Halo takes a bit getting used to.
Also here’s something from one of the devs who give a good explanation of this phenomenon:

> **Why are my some of my matches unfair?**According to our stats, the great majority of matches are actually amazingly close. Both in terms of MMR and actual match outcomes.

> Confusion happens because the only things we show are CSR and SR. Neither of these are used for matchmaking. We use MMR. We’ve actually run tests to look at CSR and SR and both are significantly worse than MMR for the purposes matchmaking. However, they are also both better than MMR for Ranking and Progression respectively.
> So, for the most part, you are being put in the best matches we can.
This is take from one of his almost weekly threads that he started back in January, Matchmaking Feesback Update April 24. He posts info mostly in a question and answer form because he is literally answering questions from the community. I would suggest following that link, and read his whole explanation, since it provides additional insight. I only posted this one part because it pertained to your immediate question.
Hang in there. Where you landed in Slayer is pretty decent for just playing it your first time. Maybe this will make you feel better…you and I have CSR in Slayer that is really close and I’ve been playing this for two years. So you’re doing just fine.
