Halo 5 Radar Issues

Ppl forget what kind of shooter halo has always been. The radar is literally a halo trademark, it’s always been played as you can see a majority of the enemies but you also know they can see you as well. This makes both players either think to engage, follow or find some way to kill them, maybe even avoid given the circumstances. If you chose to fight then the better shot wins. THATS how halo has always been played, 343 not only made the gameplay faster with all this extra -Yoink- but they reduced the radar so now it’s basically whoever sees whom first wins, basically every other shooter and it imo took away halos unique gameplay and I’m already tired of the game sadly.
No I do not suck look at my profile if u feel like it but it’s just my opinion, not to mention there’s not even a chill game type to play everything is try hard and when I just feel like chillin shooting ppl I don’t want my kd and rank to be constantly affected. All in all this game is boring af until they release new modes etc

What was your first Halo game exactly?

The radar still functions the exact same its just shorter. But a lot of the maps have cover where by you can hide and surprise if need be. If they moved it back to 25 meters I would be happy. Is it going to ruin my experience if its not? No

Yeah, radar is really short range this time around, to the point of being useless. Radars are meant to help locate potential targets or avoid tactically undesirable engagements, not to make sure that the guy 10 feet in front of you gunning for your life is real or just a figment of the mind.

Halo 2 was and ppl sitting and hiding and relying on cover was never how halo was played. Halo had a feel where you couldn’t run but it was hectic in its own way because you always had a target because of the radar. Now it’s just you haul -Yoink- around hoping to find somebody but if your found first your basically dead

I would like to see the radar increased a little, maybe it triggers from further away if your sprinting/thrusting?

I honestly don’t understand all the fuss with the radar. I’ve had nary a problem with it just the way it is.

Radar is perfect the way it is. I would rather them to just remove it all together, so people can stop relying on a radar to get kills. Start understanding your environment, use situational awareness, constantly check behind you and around you. People play with blinders on and forget to look around them because they want the radar to do all the work for them.

There should either be no radar or they should increase the range to 25 meters. This would also balance spartan charge.

very true op, very true
exactly how I feel

I almost threw up, that’s not how halo is played

I can live with shoulder charges and ground pounds, but seriously the reduced radar is my biggest problem with the game. I’ve been playing halo online religiously since Halo 2 and It was perfect before, period!!! It did not need to be changed!!!

Ya, I heard from a friend that works for Microsoft’s entertainment and devices division that 343 has approved an update to the radar to cover an area of 27m in the upcoming patch on the 16th. Not the full 30 of normal halo, halo 2&3&4&reach, but much better than it is currently. There will also be some way to determine either same level or different level as well.

That’s how shooter’s are played. The prior Halo’s were sophomoric with their ridiculously large radar. You couldn’t flank or attack from multiple directions without a hailstorm of grenades and aoe explosives going off at your radar blip. The radar was a joke…put in to appeal to pre-teens. Time to grow up.

Every E-Sports version had radar disabled. To quote an MLG Beginner’s guide: “MLG does not use radar because radar is, frankly, for softies”.

Don’t be a softy. Spartans are men and women in full body armor with over powered weaponry…-Yoink!- elites…act like it instead of a bunch of children running around in clown suits shooting water pistols.

There are a lot of games where “MLG” players restrict themselves to make the game harder and more “pro”. Imo that’s not the case with halo, without the radar your reduced to getting kills based on situation like every other shooter which is pointless, not to mention this game doesn’t have the best respawn system. Like I said halo has been played knowing where eachother are on the map and deciding whether to fight or run, or come up with another way to kill them. It gave it it’s own playstyle uniqe to others. Sounds to me like your a COD fan that’s upset because you can’t get your “I always shoot people in the back by suprise” kills

It’s not really a radar, its more of a motion sensor (which Spartans have in their armor). That being said, I have not really had a problem with it though. I also like swat, so

Honestly, I have been around since the Halo beginnings. No I never had it preordered, I got it a little while after it came out, but halo one was where I started. I still don’t find any issue with the radar. Personally i wouldn’t care if it went away altogether in pvp. That said, there are plenty of other issues i have with H5…

agree

The new radar has caused a fundamental shift in the way people play this game. Camping has never been much of an issue with Halo simply because if you got near a camper you could fully engage and not have to worry about getting shot in the back. Now that is gone. People camp in every game type. I hate the new radar to be honest. But I’m still playing the game. Not sure how much longer I will play though. It will depend on how BTB is. If that turns out to be like Warzone, then I will be done with the game. I like Warzone, but it feels and plays very much like Battlefield. If I want to play Battlefield, I will go play Battlefield(which I do often). Not expecting anybody to shed tears if I go, I’m just sayin.

Between unlimited sprinting and thrusters, I think the motion tracker would have to have a pretty wide range to actually feel like it did in previous Halos.

Indeed.

With the infinite sprint and thrust you move so fast that you can easily sprint thrust into ppls backs without them seeing you in time on the radar.

Just increase the radar with the distance you can cover with sprint thrust and im happy :stuck_out_tongue:
