I’ve tried and tried to give Arena and Warzone PVP a chance and it’s just completely unaccessible to casual players.
It gets old going 5 kills and 10 deaths when unloading entire clips into people only to be head shot from across the map with a magnum.
The thing is I’m generally good at shooters and have no problems going positive in any other games but this one. This PVP is frustrating and I know for a fact I’m not the only one who thinks so.
A game like OVERWATCH as an example is completely accessible to anyone from the word go. And I know it’s not the same type of game but still.
It would seem to me that Halo only caters to the Hardcore minus the new firefight mode. Plus the skill based matchmaking system yeah I don’t feel like I’ve ever been matched in Arena with people on my level.
Maybe I just don’t play the game enough who knows as I own every top game on both the Xbox One and PS4 and spread the love around with my time.
Sadly I’m sure I’ll get bashed for this post because sharing an opinion nowadays brings out the worst in communities over what a stranger says on the Internet.
this game is certainly accessible to casual players you spawn with an assault rifle and their is other automatics that can be used. these guns are easier to use than precision weapons and have pretty short kill times. but also positioning and map knowledge and map flow plays a factor
Well based on my experiences and I can only speak for myself that just isn’t the case at all. The game isn’t fun when you go 5 and 10 over and over again.
There isn’t one shooter out on Xbox One that is as hard as Halo but Gears of War which also makes you feel like you’re unloading entire clips without your enemy going down.
Any other shooter in my opinion is far more accessible to the casual player. Hey but they gave us firefight so I guess us regulars won’t have to be frustrated with skill based PVP that doesn’t often times match you at your skill.

actually you are relatively new while most other players are now used 2 the game. i have some tips for you as once upon a time i was gold 1 with a 0.12 kd and now im positive
Learn the strengths and usage of each weapon etc storm rifle feather the trigger plasma pistol for noob combos
Stay with teammates but don’t clump together
Learn maps and weapon spawns
Don’t rush or play too agrressively
Make ur horizontal and vertical sensitivities 4 (imo very helpful)
then just practise. honestly other games require much less skill especially cod or destiny while overwatch is centred around abilities and reliance on teamwork. Practise will makem perfect and in the meantime don’t worry about your stats they don’t matter in halo.

I’ll definitely try my best to keep up with the game and take your tips into account after reading your post. It just gets so frustrating when you want to get on play and have a good time and you feel like you aren’t able to contribute.
A big part of my frustration is the fact that I’ve received countless negative messages from teammates being rude because I’m not as good as they are.
It makes you feel like wow can I not just have fun without out someone trolling me over a video game I don’t play 24,7 like they do.
I guess we’ll see what happens with me and Halo 5. I don’t want to not play it. I definitely smile every time I’m running around because the visuals are so damn pleasing to the eyes.

I appreciate the advise, I’ll have to take you up on getting acclimated to the game sometime.
Halo is not a twitchy game like COD or battlefield where it usually comes down to fire rate and who pulls the trigger first. Kill times are longer in halo, so accuracy and skill are determinant factors in winning/losing gunfights. Practice and build confidence in your shot and aiming (learn to go for headshots). Learn to use the magnum and the other precision weps. Find the weapons your good at using, and those that you need to improve on. Keep in mind the optimal range for different weapons. I myself tended to suck at twitchy shooters like cod but when I picked up halo I actually found that I was having a more enjoyable time because of the dynamic skill gap.

I’m trying man I’m definitely trying. Played some grifball and that hilarity eases the pain a bit. LoL
Halo takes a lot of practice… There are basics, all the way up to advanced fundamentals to the game, to consider and master. One thing to know… precision weapons are your friend!
From there, there are things to consider like pre-nading, BXR-style melee’s, team-shotting/communication and coordination… and this is all just the tip of the iceberg. To do this all effectively at a high level takes weeks, months, even years of developing your game. You have to play a LOT to know how to tackle every situation that comes your way. Just think about using your grenades and abilities in combos to take out your opponents. But DO NOT mindlessly rush in towards the enemy!
Halo is about positioning yourself on the map relative to your team mates, and covering as many sight lines as physically possible. This is why precision weapons are so critical… plus a bit of communicating with your team, you can focus your shots on aggressive enemies that overextend and drop them before they have a chance to do any critical damage.
Also, play with experienced players… You’ll pick up a lot from them. Halo is not a run-and-gun game, contrary to popular belief. It’s twitchy and fast paced, an accurate shot is a necessity, but it is highly tactical as well. Just keep playing man, find some tips on YouTube and work at it… Things will come together.

Great post, I definitely understand and get everything that you’re saying. I’ll keep the things you shared here in mind for sure.
There’s not much I can add that’s not already been said. Learn to use precision weapons effectively. Learn to strafe well. Know when to use automatics (close range). Know the map. Pick your battles. Use grenades often but wisely (they really help to slow people down, block entrances, and get people out of cover). You’ll get better eventually, just stick with it and be calm. Whenever I do bad, I just take a break to calm down, focus on my aiming, and play strategically.

I appreciate it man… If you want to play sometime, hmu.
Try using the magnum/br/dmr and aiming for the head. Its 5/4/5 shots respectively if the last is a headshot. Thr AR has a relatively limited range and as a newer player you might not even realize how ineffective it is at the range you’re trying to use it.

When I first jumped into online Halo, I promptly got my butt handed to me on a silver platter. I wouldn’t say that im great now, but I can hold my own. It will all come in time. Practice headshots with the BR/pistol/DMR and you will quickly see your games improving. Most importantly always go with your team. A 2v1 can be the difference between winning or losing that encounter
