Halo 5 Pre-Order Cancellations

How many people are actually turning this negative experience into action?

I’ve cancelled 3 pre-orders of Halo 5 for me and my friends since I don’t believe it will be ready when it releases. Pre-order bonuses aren’t anything special and I can always get a digital copy if 343 ever does release a working game.

Not trying to say pre-order the game as it will be available day one so if it turns out that the game is functioning you could buy it but why do you feel it won’t be ready? Because of MCC? Understandable but Halo 4 came out with no problems and the Halo 5 beta was pretty smooth. Just because MCC launched poorly doesn’t necessarily mean Halo 5 will. Again though I don’t blame you for not pre-ordering but I’ll probably pick up the game during week 1 just as a precaution but I can almost assure you Halo 5 will be working.

I don’t see the point in pre-ordering games anymore. The bonuses are usually negligible and you’re locked into spending money on something nobody has even seen yet.

I’m buying it but I’m not pre ordering it.

Definitely not pre-ordering it to begin with. Disappointed with Halo 4 and regretted ever buying it… and barely able to use MCC and considering refunding. With this game industry, I really don’t plan on pre-ordering anything anymore.

right, pre-ordering to guarantee yourself a copy day 1 is no longer necessary. retailers always have enough stock now and digital downloads make it easy to grab one without even leaving your house. Plus, with the “Release and patch” attitude publishers have, its best practice to not pre-order anyway to ensure you get a working copy. I honestly dont really blame the developers for broken games as much as i do the publishers. Its the publishers who set the deadlines and i hope that the developers take more pride in their work.

I’m not pre-ordering because knowing 343, I doubt they are going to get rid of the things that the Halo veterans said were just implemented to coax in the COD players.

I didn’t pre-order and won’t. I am way too disappointed with MCC. :frowning:

With the latest “big” patch still having BIG issues, it’s pretty clear the team at 343i isn’t equipped to handle this game. The only real way to send companies like this a message is in their pocket books by cancelling preorders.

I’ve been a huge Halo fan since the original. I even ran LAN tournaments on the weekends. The way the MCC release and “fixes” have been managed is beyond reckless and borderline contemptuous. How many millions of people are still without a working product after a quarter of a year of waiting?

I wish Halo 5 works, but those who played the beta know it suffered from some similar network issues as MCC. I’m not going to shell out hard earned money on their word alone. If they ever fix MCC, hopefully Xbox One will still be a current gen system and worth playing. If Halo 5 isn’t riddled with bugs at launch, which would be a surprise indeed, then I might pick it up.

One thing’s for sure though, I won’t ever pre-order a game that this group is behind again.

I’m not sure why people pre-order anyway. I’m stoked for H5, but the idea of going in and buying it now without walking away with a copy makes no effin sense to me. I gave up on MCC a long time ago. The H5 beta already played better than MCC - so don’t see the concern.

I have not and will not pre-order H5 until TMCC is massively improved. Dedicated servers, trueskill ranked matchmaking, 16 player BTB that works properly, and the long list of issues that needs to be resolved. If they want my money for H5, they need to fix this game first. Plus we still have not seen a beta for H5 BTB. As rough as btb has been for TMCC, there needs to be a beta for H5 BTB. So at this point I have 0 interest in H5. And that’s coming from someone that has been playing the series for 10+ years.

LOL you pre-ordered a copy after that crappy beta?

A video game pre-order has never “locked” you into buying anything. You can cancel your pre-order at any time and put the money toward something else.

It’s not just MCC either; almost every AAA title last year (2014) had issues or missing content at launch. Its really up to the community to stop enabling greedy developers by pre-ordering games. It made sense 5 years ago because you could reserve a copy so that you were guaranteed a copy if a retailer ran out. But now, with the ability to download the game directly from the marketplace, that’s not the case anymore.

Giving 343i your money for a game they haven’t finished yet is like a teacher giving a middle-school student an A on a project they haven’t yet completed. “Well Timmy, I know this project isn’t due for another 6 months, but I’m gonna go ahead and give you an A anyway as long as you pinky promise to study hard, okay?” How hard do you honestly think that student will study if he already knows he’s getting an A, whether he studies or not? 343i, as well as every other major developer (looking at YOU Ubisoft), have made it crystal clear that they can’t be trusted.

Don’t get me wrong, I played the beta for Halo 5 and it really was pretty solid. But like our middle-school friend Timmy, just because he showed us a half-decent rough draft doesn’t mean we should give him an A for the whole project. When I see a functioning game, 343i will see my money. If it happens at launch, great; I’ll get it at launch. If not, I’m not out $60.

Exactly. The only game I can think of over the last couple years that has launched with little problems on the X1 is FC4. That game has had very few issues since launch. The co-op runs insanely well. Obviously TMCC has had THE most problems of any game ever in history IMO. But in their very slight defense, it is 4 AAA titles all in one including all co-op campaigns and full multiplayer. Which I don’t think has ever happened in history. And clearly, still hasn’t happened successfully. lol Proving the game should not have been launched last year.

I am sure other games like COD, or Gears of War, or even Mass Effect will release similar “collection” titles. But hopefully they make sure their game is working properly before releasing an alpha version to the community. TMCC is now in beta stage which is nice, but 3 months later and just now a beta, is indeed very frustrating as a consumer.

Likewise.

NOT buying a quality product (assuming H5 will be) to teach them a lesson for putting out a bad product is going to do what again? The whole point to voting with your wallet is to ensure quality products. If H5 is deemed as a quality title, wouldn’t buying it be the logical step?

We’ve already seen it in action. It’s not like we’re going in blind.

Had to cancel my pre-order just on principal.
This whole next gen experience has been farcical.
Still will get it, just not as eager as i once was.
