Halo 5 popularity going down

It needs more permanent playlists to be honest.

I think 343 shouldnt have released halo 5 without social playlists.

Everyone playing blackops 3 more now. Then in a few days battlefront.

A drop in popularity is inevitable for any game a few weeks after launch, though I agree that 343 doesn’t seem to be doing anything to mitigate that. Why would the BTB update be pushed until next week? This is the first weekend since FO4, now more than ever players needed incentive to play Halo 5.

you answered your own question at the end.

lots of developers are releasing games around the same time to “even out the competition” and population

trust me, if halo 5 came out over the summer it would have consistently high numbers until FO4 and BLOPS ect came out

i expect a surge in numbers in december from xmas noobs and the forge

Funny enough, Nintendo disagrees with you. The reason they delayed Yoshi’s Woolly World in the US was (and I’m paraphrasing) that no one buys video games in the summer. I don’t know if that statement is true, but I assume their market analysts are somewhat competent.

Its not just the games releasing. But the popularity is going down because of interests.

Halo 3 for instance was able to stay the top xbox live game for quite some time even next to cod.

343 should definitely take notice of cod how it was released.

It had 3 seperate playlists and tons of game modes. So no one was waiting for anything.

Not trying to just be negative by the way. My service record shows i enjoy the game.

I agree and think that the numbers will be consistent, it is tough to have so many great games come out around the same time, but the matchmaking times are still great, I don’t think there will be any issues.

yes i am sure the demographical research has been done however my point was if it wasnt released along side 3 other major franchises it would have mroe consistent numbers

To be fair to 343, Halo 3 was released in a different time. Halo had been the de facto shooter since 2001 which gained popularity because of its popularity. In other words, it was the CoD of that decade. The market has shifted and the casual masses prefer twitchy xX720quickscopes to a quasi-arena shooter. Halo will never be the powerhouse it once was, and while 343 spending the first 3 years of its leadership Yoinking! the bed certainly didn’t do the series any favors, its decline was inevitable from the time MW2 gained the top spot.

You make it sound like its another 7 days until release when its only a couple.

At this rate I don’t see the game lasting long, and that pains me to say. The game simply isn’t finished, there’s such a massive amount of content missing it’s not even funny. Black Ops 3 is already out and I’m enjoying it, I’m getting Fallout 4 soon and that looks amazing. The beta for The Division comes out in December. Reach is backwards compatible in December. H5 has a ton of competition and nothing to really draw people back to the game.

I really don’t think just adding Forge and some new playlists (things that should have been in from the start) is going to fix that.

And how many people would you imagine are just now finding the opportunity to purchase Fallout 4? Only a couple… thousand.

I have noticed the population drop and like the op said, lots of games coming out at the same time. Halo 5 also doesn’t feel like it has the most replay value at times.

Does it upset you that people are playing more than one game? You dont have to play halo 24/7.

Does it upset me personally? No. But the topic of the thread is Halo 5’s staggering popularity and the reasons for it.

No, it needs 343i to realise that going back on what they said regarding regional Multiplayer dedicated servers is what’s causing the decline.
I’m not being negative I’m being realistic.
There are numerous threads regarding this issue and not one response from 343i.
There goes many of Europe, Asia, OZ/NZ playerbase… because they screwed the MP servers
It’s also another reason why there is lots of quitting from games.
Why would you play when your hits don’t register
Why would you play when you empty an entire clip into an opposing player only for them to turn round and kill you in two shots…
THIS is why it’s in decline, and after 4 weeks, it’s a poor effort to be honest.

An addition of social playlists would be nice, warzone isn’t enough.

This. Also, ALL games drop in play after the first couple weeks. This game is solid and will be played for a long time. They will gradually release content as they go and the game will get better and better…hopefully.

BTB was most likely pushed to next week because it wasn’t finished. I seriously wonder if people actually know something can be in progress, and isn’t just instantly moved from 0 to 100% complete. If they weren’t doing anything to mitigate the popularity drop, they wouldn’t have even announced BTB. But they did. They just know how much worse it would have been if they released a broken BTB.

This is good input tooo hopefully 343 checks this.

But the drop shouldn’t be this much in such a short period of time. Newer games always come out but if Halo 5 was designed better then more players would have stayed.

I started playing with 8 friends and now I’m now the only one left. Disappointing.
