Halo 5 Playlists.

This seems to be a topic that no one is really talking about. What does the community want to see how playlists are done. Personally I think Reach and 4 stagnated the community by making to many playlists for a specific game type (ctf, swat, snipers.) To me it makes no sense to have playlists with such low populations they are just taking up space and dividing the community. Why not combine swat and snipers into one list instead of having two when they are basically the same thing. This is how I would divide up the playlists.

Slayer
-Slayer
-Ctf
-king of the hill
-snipers
-swat
-oddball

Big team Battle
-Slayer
-Heavies
-ctf
-snipers

Griff Ball

DLC (only for a short time with new map packs)
-Slayer
-swat
-ctf
-oddball

You get the idea where I am going with this, this is just an example. What are your ideas on this subject. Post below and please be respectful of others ideas.

Sure, but still there HAS to be a ranked and unranked playlist, and a competitive playlist (Like MLG in Halo 3, but now with whatever tournament or company will run the competitions for Halo 5), or else it will be just as bad as Halo: Reach and 4.

I am all for a ranked and social playlists like 3 had. I really do miss that.

> Why not combine swat and snipers into one list instead of having two when they are basically the same thing.

This is a horrible example and they are not nearly even close to the same gametype. Certain gametypes should be combined because it makes sense. But not all of them. Taking two playlists such as these and combining them would probably hurt the number of players playing. People who consistently play snipers are different from those that consistently play SWAT. If you were to force people to pick between the two, people might decide to just play something else. So instead of having 2 playlists with 500 players, you may have only 1 playlist with like 800 players. Not really much of a win.

Also the reason nobody is talking about this is because we really don’t know anything about it yet. How can we talk about playlists if we don’t even know anything about the multiplayer? From the looks of the Beta trailer, there could be some significant changes.

This is talking about ideas what we would like to see as playlists in halo 5.

First you pick ranked or social

Second you select your preference for team size (1v1, 2x2, 2x2x2x2, 4x4, 8x8, 16x16). Not all selections available for ranked or social (for example, 1v1 is purely a competitive thing).

From there, you pick the game types available. These are high level, like: Slayer, Objective, CTF. The types will vary by playlist (for example, social will include action sack, ranked will not).

That’s it… the servers will assign maps and more specific game types. So if you opted into the 4v4 Slayer lobby, you will be placed into a game with a small-ish map, and one of Slayer/Infinity/Snipers/Heavies/whatever.

> Personally I think Reach and 4 stagnated the community by making to many playlists for a specific game type (ctf, swat, snipers.) Why not combine swat and snipers into one list.

SWAT and snipers are completely different for many reasons. Why combine those into one playlist? Nobody other than you is complaining about SWAT and Snipers being separates. I personally don’t like Infinity Slayer and Legendary Slayer in the same playlist either, but that’s a story for another day.

Uh, if the playlist is “Slayer”, then why does it include CTF, KotH, and Oddball?

4 Playlists??? You can’t have only 4 playlists!!! If you think this will bring the community together you are wrong? All this will do will get the different divisions in the community pissed off at each other when they have to play gametypes that they don’t want to play.

And there are practically only 2 playlists because Grifball hardly counts and DLC is the same as the first playlist, but on maps that nobody will buy.

Also, “Only for a short time with new map packs” sounds like the Halo 4 system. If I paid good money for maps, I should ALWAYS have the option to play them, not just for two weeks after the maps come out.
