Halo 5 playlists issue

I’m being a bit curious here but why the -Yoink- are CTF and Strongholds not stand alone playlists? Why do we have to scroll through Team Arena to find a match? And don’t even get me started on why KOTH, VIP, Juggernaut, Race, Team Action Sack, Nuetral CTF and Oddball and completely absent from matchmaking and that it took 343 7 -Yoinking!- MONTHS to put Infection into the game. If halo 5 had these modes at launch then it may have had a much higher population than it does now.

TBH it probably wouldn’t. Each returning gamemode has come out spaced out a month at a time (for updates mainly) It keeps people playing longer because when they get bored of the game modes out they release a new one.

WHAT DID You just say?!?!?!??!?:?

You obviously know nothing. This in fact does the opposite, if people don’t have a game mode they like or get bored of one before an update they leave, simple as that, and they most likely won’t return to any game mode they’ve played for months. Having all the game modes adds diversity, and allows for everybody to find their litttle click to fit in with, while minimal modes force people to either give in or quit which you don’t want to do.

I don’t understand how you came to this conclusion, its full of fallacies that would make logic cringe. Don’t you think if players had more to do from the start they would stay longer? Does that make any reasonable sense to you? Because, after many people leave seeing that there is barely anything to do, not all come back when something new appears, and depending on what appears barely anyone would return. I would wager people took Halo 5 back to gamestop after seeing its state at launch or after WZFF, actually I would too if I didn’t get the digital version. A stupid mistake on my part. Well I’m done, feel free to prove me wrong or whatever, I doubt you could though.

-Rant over.

LOL I like your little rant there but, I’m still right. Destiny is living proof of this theory. That game is absolute trash but they release little tidbits here and there that keep their players hooked. I don’t know anyone who if they liked a game but were bored, would just completely pass it off and walk away forever. Now add a few friends who still play the game avidly, and they get told by said friend, “OMG HEY THEY ADDED BTB/INFECTION/FIREFIGHT/SOCIAL SNIPERS!” That said person who was bored of just arena or slayer will likely comeback, even if just for a little bit. They may not stay for a long time but enough to get close to a new game mode.

(Just like Destiny’s Xur is coming! a few days before he shows up getting those stupid coins become increasingly difficult then he leaves and they drop like candy again. Also Iron banner is like once a month. I know people who only login to Destiny just for Iron Banner and don’t play at all any other time.)

BTW I am not saying I approve of this method. I just see how implementation does work.

EDIT

If you need any other evidence just look at every MMO ever. They always release just the game, then slowly add stuff throughout the version. Raids get added slowly over the course of the timeline until the next expansion. Otherwise people would play really hard for the month quit until next expac came out once they got everything. Instead they add hard mode dungeons and after a month or so they add a raid. then more hard mode dungeons and holiday event bosses which drops loot, then once everyones geared to the teeth and everyone is leaving… NEXT RAID! all your gear becomes crap and you have to get that next best thing. rinse and repeat until the Expac drops.

Halo is completely different. These are modes that have already been finished, and your analogy doesn’t work, because those games are designed to get you coming back (eg. Destiny). And never mind most MMO’s are already filled with content.

Objective playlists are known to be the least populated playlists going off of previous games, but it couldn’t hurt to include them at this point since the game playlists are already bare bones.

You don’t think that 343i wants to find a way to bring back players? Do I think they intentionally left these game modes out to bring players back? probably not. However as they roll out “new” game modes that people are asking for here on the forums, I am sure they have seen how it is improving the population and might be taking advantage of it to lengthen it’s lifespan. It could also be that they want to release them one at a time to test it’s popularity with game modes everyone else has already played as to give it the best chance of success or more accurate interest in said playlists.

Being that I am not a 343 employee I cannot tell you for sure if this is what has happened however from a marketing prospective it seems highly likely.

EDIT used the wrong word for something… Fixed it.

When Destiny first came out my friends and I fell in love with it (I even pre-ordered the limited edition). However, once we finished the story mode and spent a week or two doing raids we all got bored. None of us have played Destiny since 2014. We still have one friend who keeps trying to get us to buy TTK but we all just roll our eyes at him. The point is there are plenty of people who will drop a game due to lack of content and never return.

What 343 is doing does keep players returning, but these are game modes that should have been available on Day 1, and it’s common knowledge that games with more initial content have more longevity. 343 could have avoided this entire thing if they had spent more time on H5 and not released a partially finished product.

Destiny really failed to deliver in more than one aspect though, I guess I can be fair and say that some people might delete and walk away forever however as I did say, while I don’t agree with how they launched it with the lack of game modes, it still seems pretty obvious it has been taken advantage of regardless.

I am one who have hoped Destiny could become better than it was and this last expac they launched was a huge step forward but a little to late in my book, however I still have this one guy I work with who keeps begging me to come back and play it with him.

Well let’s look at when 343 added in a PERMENANT playlist into halo 5:
. BTB - Early Nobember
. Grifball - Mid February
. Infection - Early May
. Warzone Firefight - Late June
. Doubles - June

As we can see there were no playlists added form Mid Novemeber - Late February which would make a lot of players leave and move onto something else.

I wasn’t meaning a literal month bro, thanks for keeping me literal though. =)

I’m fine with CTF and strong hold s and objective based games being in one playlist. Halo 4 had like 20 some playlists with very little people in them. No point in having a crap tone of playlists when their isn’t a population big enough to support them. Halo 3 didnt have a playlist for every game type and people stayed because it was a fun game.

Can we get some Action Sack already!? Every live stream they show these awesome mini and race games, but it seems like they’re never going to see the light of day in MM. I’d imagine a playlist with those type of gametypes would be very popular.
